Why don't British fans celebrate Lloyd Honeyghan?

He was one of your greatest fighters… Twice held the welterweight titles, beat Donald Curry and a few other names… But, I have seen more topics on shit fighters like Alan Minter than I see of Honeyghan. Put some respect on the Raggamuffin’s name.

Lloyd was popular when he became champion because he fought on mainstream Television BBC. His fights were viewed by millions and he was well respected.

The self proclaimed ragamuffin man went anywhere and everywhere to beat the best champions including Italy when he became European champion.

Nobody gave Lloyd a chance against Curry but he destroyed the p4p king. That is the greatest British upset in boxing. He destroyed his opponents and didn’t fear anyone when he became and defended his undisputed welterweight title.

True. Honeyghan was a really very very good fighter. Fierce as they come and an genuine elite performer.

He never got the kudos her deserved because he didn’t play the media game, never kowtowed to anyone and the British media at the time didn’t appreciate him being quite so uppity

Frank Bruno was more loved because he was a heavyweight and played a certain role. He also lost a few times which the British like for some strange reason.

Honeyghan was built differently and was a winner who took no prisoners. Very unbritish.
