For once, I’m totally on board with the WBC.

WBC moves to shut down Usyk-Verhoeven rematch talk

I personally have NO wish to see a rematch between Rico and Usyk. Call it defensiveness of our sport. Just like I thought Fury’s narrow escape against Ngannou was cringeworthy… I also feel a sense of dread that we came “this close” to having a kickboxer defeat the heavyweight champion of the world in his pro boxing debut. It ain’t right.

The WBC is pushing Agit Kabayel as Usyk’s next opponent, as well they should. Let’s get back to boxers fighting boxers. Please…

As far as what Usyk should do next, I guess either fight Kabayel or retire. I mean… he’s pushing 40. He’s beaten both Fury and Joshua twice each. He has a great resume. What else is there?

As far as Rico, part of me wishes an Anthony Joshua would go in and “clean up the mess”, much like he did against Ngannou after that Fury near-disaster. :laughing:

Straight to his mandatory and long overdue Kabayel. So tired of hearing press and some fans in the know talk about “there’s no money in it”. Since when have we FANS become a fighter’s bank accountant and financial planners :roll_eyes: . On the flipside, there was arguably ‘too much’ endless money thrown at the circus stunt…at the call of exactly 1 man…and exactly how did that work out for Usyk and bigger picture, the sport! A champion has a professional obligation to defend v his legitimate top challenger. No more of this violin playing “oh well he deserves a gimme after such a run”. I really like Usyk but respectively, time to get back to reality Champ.
