oH! and also how long did it take for your trainers to get you sparring?
thanks a heap
Good grief. My first āmoderatorā act is to remove my own post- thought Iād hit ānew topicā, not āreplyā :-[
The boxing ring, to me, is like a lab or a classroom. That has been true since the first time- there is so muchto learn or to teach, and you can test your theories and recieve a pass/fail grade immediately. There is always a hint ofpotential danger, if not absolute ruin if it gets out of hand. There is also the promise of feelingā¦great. I donāt know how else to explain the feeling of being pushed by a difficult opponent and coming out ahead, or the evenings you wish would never end when everything works perfectly.
Thatās the addictive factor,for me.
Your Uncleās only saying that to give you the motivation to get back in the ring if you find it tough⦠he wants you to prove him wrongā¦
Whats it like in the ring⦠its different for every one⦠when your not used to it its sort of like if you did something embarassing in the caffaterior at school, all eyes are focused on your every move. Its not like football or something, you get the feeling that your are being measured and feel isolated⦠wonāt take you long to feel comfortable in the ring though.
To be honest the first time you do it youāll be thinking of 1000s of different things āwhat do I do when he does thatā ādo I move my foot like this to step leftā āwhat was it turn your shoulder back and work off the oppo- OW! IāMT TRYING TO THINK HERE!ā
Once you train your sef so they stances and moves become an instinct itāll all be much clearer. The whole point of learning to box is changing your instinctive reaction⦠instead of blinking and turning your head away when some one trys to hit you⦠that reaction turns into a parry, a block or a slip. Instead of thinking āto punch step this way, turn this leg, twist here etcā you just think ācrossā āhookā and perform it correctly with out even thinking.
it sucks to get hit in the temple, and taking a shot anywhere on the head tends to emit a flash if ur hit hard enough, u wanna not get hit on the chin, temple, or jaw, cuz thats where its gonna cause the most damage, getting hit below the eye isnt bad, unless u have unusually high cheek bones or something
Iāve never gotten a flash like that in all the time Iāve boxed, Iāve taken a few hard clean shots but the only time I ever really felt one is when this southpaw caught me with a left hook right on my jaw, legs didnāt go but I got a numb sensation all of the right hand side of my jaw⦠like when you got your mouth numbed by a dentist.
i donāt know if its because I have a good defence or a good chin or what it is but Iāve never been stunned or hurt by a head shot⦠can take body shots just as well but if I was ever knocked down, that would probably be the shot that did it.
well the times i saw the flashes i was getting hit with GIANT 16oz gloves, they didnt hurt at all, but they rattled the fuck outta my brain, one time i got tackled and saw a flash
sort of like your site goes away and for a split second all you see is a flash of white, like someone took a picture and you were looking right into the flash
The only time I ever got wobbled by a punch when i was sparring this lad with 16oz and head gear on⦠the shot gave me one hell of a black eye⦠nearly cut me and it was throw a head guard⦠he could bang
Iāve never felt pain in the ring, not even when I had my nose fractured. But the next day, my face is tender if I took a decent whoopin. But it hardly matters the next day because what is done is done.
