Two-time super middleweight world title challenger Mario Veit (48-2, 23 KOs) is back in the title picture after winning a majority decision over previously unbeaten WBC #2 rated Jürgen Brähmer (27-1, 22 KOs) over twelve rounds in Munich to claim the WBC International title. After being dropped in the first round, Veit simply outboxed the powerful southpaw Brähmer, who had problems avoiding Veit’s jab and solving Veit’s defense, although when Brähmer did land, his punches clearly did more damage. Scores were 115-113, 114-113, 114-114.
I’m not to sure how good Kessler is - his and Veits form seems to be pretty similar - with the exception of Calzaghe (who’s obviously miles ahead of everyone in the division) Veit is probaly better than he’s been given credit for and would be a good fight for anyone.
I aint denying calzaghe is the man in the division and how good he is…but i think its really strange how people are now saying lacy is crap and was found out against joe coz if thats the case then that doesnt mean joe is that great. As i said Joe is the best and is very good but if lacy was never that good then it really wouldnt mean much then
Thats right snakey and that was my original point about Veit franking the Calzaghe form. Veits only lost twice in 50 fights both times getting stopped by Joe yet he is beating guys who have a similar level of form to the other top Super Middles - Kessler, Lacy, Mundine etc
It’ll be interesting to see how well Lacy comes back.
Veit is very underrated, people in Gemany aren’t that interrested in him or maybe there were
some management mistakes, but a guy with this record should get more attention.
After turning the fight against Brähmer(who could be really good, if he gets his condition
problems under control),the german TV commentator said “What could have Veit achieved,
if he had more punchingpower”.Don’t know what to think about that…,but I like Veit,he is a
very modest boxer …
