Then it was hunting for an exhibition against Pacquiao… something that thankfully never happened.
All the while being more focused on his posing and his adoring Instagram follower millions, than on being a serious fighter.
I’m not a Gervonta fan… but I was HAPPY when he put PrincessRy in his place.
Let’s not forget the mental issues the kid says he has. He definitely checks all the boxes.
He beats Devin Haney… but under totally TAINTED conditions.
He missed weight by over 3 pounds… like the unprofessional he is.
Then he tests positive for PEDs.
Now he claims that a victory in his next fight will make him the “Face of Boxing”… a moniker I’m growing to hate.
Man… I can’t wait till this punk gets KFTO’ed or loses focus and runs off in some other pursuit.
Garcia is going for the extreme market of fans in boxing. Those that love him regardless and those that can see through to what he is. A half decent boxer with a high social media following.
Might be going out on a limb here. But I’d say that most of those who “love him regardless” aren’t hardcore boxing fans, nor were they around during boxing’s heyday.
Garcia’s is a product of today’s up and coming generation, which values itself by the number of clicks and likes on social media. Which despises the grueling grind it normally takes to get to the top of any profession… and chooses instead to look for shortcuts and instant gratification. Which demands the adulation BEFORE having done anything to earn it. Come to think of it… I should be writing this on the “You Know You’re Getting Too Old When…” thread.
I don’t care much for Garcia. He’s got talent. But he’s fucking idiot who’s easy to dislike. Good thing for him he’s fighting Conner Benn. Another fucking idiot who’s even more easier to dislike.
Benn isn’t a punk in the ring. He comes to fight. But styles make fights. And his style is absolutely made for Garcia. He’ll crash and burn on his shield around the 5th round.
