Great thread. Crazy to think how ignorant we are as a species refusing service, slavery, war, our rampant destruction of this planet and its other inhabitants. Intelligent life my ass.

Can’t wait to see the choices for the 12th.

Remember the Tom Johnson fight he was a warrior a mini Holyfield.

Cooney v Holmes was before my time but do remember the hype on the mainstream news.

June 12th

My fight for today,

1989-Ray Leonard vs Tommy Hearns. Not only did Tommy have to wait to long for a rematch because of Leonard but he then gets boned. How Leonard got a split draw out of this retaining his 168 title is a mystery to me

Good on you dude, love the mix. Ploenchit v Guzman was a battle. Today in 94’ I had Junior Jones losing by one point to Orlando Fernandez :cwm13: Mitchells ko of Liles while squinting thru busted eyes had to be one of the top ‘come from behind’ kos of that year!

Thanks bud. Agree on the Liles fight. Nice grab on Junior. He sure had Mabs number eh. Glad you enjoy man.

Yes indeed Hearns got robbed of the victory against Leonard – redemption should have been his.

June 13th

My fight for this day,

1986: Hector Camacho v Edwin Rosario. Neither man would be the same even though Hector went on to reasonable success. It took a lot out of him. He was lucky to squeak this one out.

1938- Charley Burley W 10 Fritzie Zivic.

1981- Marvelous Marvin Hagler KO 5 Vito Antuofermo. Retains World Middleweight Title. Fitting. I thought Marvin won the first fight and apparently so did Mills Lane. He told him to turn and face the camera so he could raise his arms when they made the call.

I was sure just by some unworldly coincidence you’d pick the Hagler fight on my birthday. Great choice though, that fight took a bit out of Hector.

Had it been November 30th my friend.

Leonard/Benitez on the same date?

Arguably the left hooks that changed Camacho in approach and career, they cut the last two rounds off of scrap there? Damn shame how Thomas went out so young

Not seen Camacho v Rosario but heard Macho Man was very defensive in his career after getting hurt in that fight.
