antonion tarver vs clinton woods. how do you think this would go?
I think clinton would get beat i dont think he didnt looked all that good in his last fight against average opposition it would be in america aswell
You have to give Clinton respect for what he has done in the game! He is a grafter and deserves his world title! That said he would not beat Tarver in my opinion - Tarver is too classy for Clinton!
Tarver can be lazy, so maybe Woods can outwork him, aslong as he stays away from the big shots.
I think Woods has a hell of a chance against Tarver to be honest!
Tarver is definitely more classy than Woods but Woods more than makes up for it with work rate. I wouldnt write him off, you could maybe take some comparison from Hatton / Mayweather. OK Woods isnt as good as Hatton but Tarver isnt as good as Mayweather either.

No way 2-3 yrs ago, but Tarver isn’t in his prime anymore and seems to have lost a little edge, woods on the other hand has been on a roll and beaten a couple of good fighters (johnson, gonzalez) so he deffo has a big chnace…hence the reason he’s called Tarver out!! I don’t think he would of done that 2-3years ago!
I dont see why Clinton coudnt win this fight, it would be a genuine 50/50 IMO.
I think I would fancy Woods to out work Tarver to get a UD win. Especially with Tarver fighting Danny Green in December, Woods v Tarver couldn’t be made until early '08 by which time Tarver will be 39.
woods should keep busy and hope calzaghe moves up, beats Hopkins and then that’ll be a huge fight over here anyhow!
I’d like to see Woods v Chad Dawson.
IMO Woods would beat Dawson fairly easy, Dawson is very over hyped, a bit like lacy for me!! Good prospect but don’t think he can be as dominant as they make him out to be.

Let me be the first one to tell you that DAWSON isnt LACY. Dawson has some very nice skills that can outbox the best of the best out there and like ive mentioned before WHEN TARVER is man enough then he will challenge DAWSON but he wont because in this past year DAWSON has been wanting to fight TARVER but tarver wants no part of it and then will fight fighters like DANNY GREEN ???
Chad dawson will beat anybody they put in front of him…I really dont know who clinton woods BUT I WILL BE THE FIRST ONE TO TELL YOU ( DAWSON ) will be flawless in his career at 175.
To be honest also i think DAWSON can beat KESSLER, and CALZAGHE at 175. Maybe these fighters should meet in between 168 and 175. But CALZAGHE doesnt need dawson in his resume so maybe dawson can go to 168 one day but i feel dawson true weight is at 175. I am very much impressed with CHAD’s skills and can beat anybody out there.
If he would put on ALEX REYES gloves instead of those big gloves he has on then i feel he can take out his opponents much easier wearing a punchers gloves.

HA HA … Didn’t realise it was that funny, but yes i was being serious. When I said Dawson over hyped like Lacy it’s true, as soon as someone with talent fights dawson he’ll get exposed in the same way Lacy did against Joe calzaghe. To me he’s only fought 2 credible ooponents and one was for an obscure belt, them being Tomasz Adamek and Darnell Wilson, and hasn’t taken the world by storm in his other bouts.
The reason Tarver won’t fight Dawson, is because he’s old and a little over the hill and knows Dawson has the tools to beat him, especially for the money he’d probably get offered, that wouldn’t of happen 2-3 years ago, when Tarver would of done most in the division, probably in the same way if Kosta Tsyzu was 40 he wouldn’t of fought Ricky Hatton. To say he beats Kessler and Calzaghe is as funny as your HA HA HA at the start of your response, Calzaghe would kick his ass illy and I think Kessler has the tools to beat him also. What makes you think he can beat them 2?
Every time i’ve seen him he’s done ok nothing to impressive to be honest, nothing to show me he’ll be a legend in years to come, he hasn’t got amazing power or dazzling skills so I don’t see why your getting over excited about Chad
hmm…so harding isnt credible ? didnt harding beat tarver once in his prime ? Didnt harding give RJJ a run for his money in RJJ prime ? We both know that TOMASZ has nice skills and was champion and dawson MADE HIM LOOK LIKE A ROOKIE.

[b]Thats funny i think the same in calzaghe . I dont respect slapping in boxing and majority of his punches are MISSES but for some whatever reason the judges give him THE ROUNDS which i feel is a shame because accuracy and solid punches should count more on rounds being judged instead of punch output that majority are inaccurate.
Do i think calzaghe has nice skills? Yes, i think he has very nice footwork, very good defense ( head movement , angles ), throws the jab very nicely to keep a power puncher from getting in close where they are comfortable at.
But nothing impressive and I TRULY FEEL if this fight was in denmark then calzaghe loses you will see…KESSLER will be the solid puncher and more accurate puncher but the punches in bunches by calzaghe will get the fans excited which majority are misses and will lead to the judges giving the close rounds to calzaghe simply by his punch output and not his accuracy. I don’t care much for Tarver and he’s lazy.
He’s lived off the Roy Jones KO for too long IMO and i’d definitely give Woods a shot at winning.

It’s goo reading your response worth a CC even if i disagree, put it blunt, Hopkins would KO Dawson and Calzaghe would beat Hopkins, he’d also beat Dawson. I’m not as confident in Kessler but believe Calzaghe would kick ass, and he’d still have fairly good power at 175. Hopefully we can see that in 2 or 3 fights time!!
Clinton has a great chance against Tarver he has got better with age. Tarver looked very lack luster against an ageing Rocky ;D
