something fishy about the Barrera fight

I haven’t seen this fight yet, but I read that two judges originally had the last round for Juarez, making the fight a draw. Both judges scratched that out and made it a 10-10 round, giving the fight to Barrera. Hmm, that’s odd.

Who really won this fight?

I belive that what effected Barreras performance was the constant bleeding from his nose. it was more than usual. I belive the draw was right, because no one wanted to win.

Although I feel barrera verily won the fight there was definately some indecisivness among the judges in the 10th.

Did you see how worried Oscar looked when he stepped up to Barreras corner after the fight. I just wonder if he knew something that we did not?

I heard that Barrera had his nose broken in the second round.

Barerra won.

Like what? that it was a close fight?

I don’t see what you can be getting at

Barrera won the fight at least 7-5. I had him up 7-4 with one round even. R12 was close, but I thought Barrera won it.

There’s nothing fishy because the only two outcomes are Barerra winning or a draw. None of which is Juarez winning

I thought the draw was fishy. Juarez did his damage within three rounds.
barrera won 7 rounds to 5.

I know you want me to make an accusation because no boxing fan could be as naive as you are acting but all I can say is that judges were flustered, scores were changed and Oscar did not have his usual calm, smiley, and congratulatory face as he usually does when his fighters fight well.

The thought just came to my head that Oscar may have looked worried because his favorite fighter did take alot of hits to the head or maybe Oscar had a sixth sence that the judges were messed up.

i thought it was a draw
but barrera winning aint bad either
again a real close fight 8)

I’m not to surprised that the franchise fighter ended up winning the fight. I thought the draw was fair. Barrera only survived on guile in the later rounds, tring to steal them with occassional/late flurries when most of the quality work was done by Juarez. Round 12 is a case in point. The better punching came from Juarez. Barrera tried to pick his spots and flurry; the sort of thing Marvin Hagler complained about Leonard doing. I thought the quality of Juarez’ punching should have carried the round.

With all that’s happened in boxing, it’s very easy to be cynical about the judging error. Barrera is a PPV franchise with a Packman fight still a possibility while Juarez’ bankability is much lower. While there’s a good chance nothing untoward may have happened it certainly looks bad when judges can’t write/add up.

This is a fight that could have been scored three ways and almost everyone would agree with the final outcome. If Juarez would have won by a round, i could live with that. If Barrera won by one or two, i could also live with that. And a draw, 99% of the viewing audience could live with that.

It all depends what style you like. Juarez kept coming forward. Barrera had better ring generalship and both threw an adequate number of punches. I just wish Barrera didn’t have his nose broken. He probably would have fought more aggressively if he didn’t.

watch when they announce a draw, oscar trumpets his lips in the look at its the wrong decision

Either way, Barrera won…

but the outcomes not the issue 4 me, the judges card was changed from 10 - 9 to 10 -10 to make Barrera the winner, maybe Barrera won but either way the fact the judges are that dodgy is not good 4 boxing

i thought MAB won the fight
