If I missed a PPV and wanted to catch the following weeks replay would I be justified in checking the forum and then flipping my lid when I discover a thread discussing the results?
I don’t understand what makes The Contender so special that it must be discussed in “hushed tones” so as not to “giveaway” the results.
Yeah it’s an ongoing series, but it lasts TWO MONTHS. I doubt you keep the forum quite about a HBO PPV fight for a single week so as not to ruin it so how do you expect to keep secret for two months. It’s unrealistic.
Not everyone is a regular here. Not everyone knows the “rules” for Contender posting. I don’t think they deserve to be chastised for giving away results anymore than someone talking about a PPV before it replays.
Listen mate, firstly this is a British based Forum, secondly people who have been following The Cotender like myself would like to tune in and watch it rather than find the result out on a forum, it’s quite simple really, so if you have a problem with it fuck off, you can post results but have the fucking manners to say the post contains spoilers, it’s not hard is it??
Like i say there is a big British based intrest on here and alot of us like to watch the show, so again take your shitty opinions somewhere else.
Well i can see what your saying but we dont get half the PPV fights over here, and alot of people tune in for round by round, but The Contender is a series which is aired i think two weeks later in the Uk, if we have been following this series for like 2 months then you log onto a boxing site and see who the finalist are before you have wathced it, it kind of pisses you off, i see what your saying though.
Well this has changed. The show is now being uploaded the day after it airs here in the USA so if you do not download them like I do, becuase I am a Contender fan too, then you have no real business crying. They are being uploaded on Torrent, so if there is a season 3, you guys overseas will know what to do, eh?
There is no excuse for you guys not to download these in the future!
Because there will be a season 3.
True, this is a forum called “Boxing Talk”, not “only talk boxing if every member has seen every fight.” Go on to fightnews of doghouse for instance. The “spoilers” are highlighted on the front page. But the reason i like this forum is because anything goes…or it used to. I happen to be America based so are people supposed to stop posting on Las Vegas PPV Fights. Good Point fellas there is a double standard… cc. Gorilla for your good points
I think they got a thread going called Contender spoilers ? i don’t get the problem? I would think it would be proper etiquette to discuss a series like the contender in the spoiler section, but after the Tuesday fight seems like it would be open for discussion anywhere really , I can relate to my British mate because i usually tape the series and watch it later during my stationary bike cardio regiment. so i hate to hear about the results of anyfight i have not seen, so i stay away from threads with such titles or anything that would reference a fight i have not seen. until i watch it. .
I see the point of this post. A couple threads on the contender someone will make a post then get jumped on by people swearing at them and saying how they spoiled it for them. If someone spoils it Im sure it’s by accident and why are people clicking threads about upcoming contender fights when they should know that many of us here see the fights WAY before british tv airs it and someone is bound to give away something.
Felt bad for boomboom in that other thread he made a nice contender post about his opinion and got hounded for it.
In Britain, we either get a fight or we don’t… if we are that bothered about the result we will not check the forum till we download it.
End of.
In Britain we do not get the Contender till 2 weeks after you, the release is staggered, no one is gonna bother to d/l it will it will be getting shown on ITV2.. so we just wait for it, not checking these boards for 2 weeks (or in theory the whole tournament kind of sucks though…
It’s a pretty off comparison BoomBoom not only are you based in America, but once the fight happened… that’s it, if you saw it you saw it… if you didn’t you have to either live with it or find a copy to watch of the fight and then that’s it.
Not all of us have the internet speed or time to d/l the contender and keep up with America.
Thanks fellas i survived the onslaught. Ill try to be more cautious. I used to post a lot and got a lot of good feedback, but ive been away for a few months so ive got to get back into it…
I stopped watching three weeks ago in the middle of the show. I just got bored with it. I tried to get into it this year, but it’s damn near impossible. I like the build up to the fight that is enjoyable. The end of the show (the part that you are supposed to be waiting for) is what bores me the most.
