Thursday, Oscar De La Hoya in a press conference to promoting Saturday’s WBC super featherweight title fight between Marco Antonio Barerra and Rocky Juarez, Oscar spoke on possible fights.

On the subject of Ricky Hatton and Antonio Margarito, De La Hoya ruled them out. No incentives to fight them.

“Let’s say I beat him. What do you gain?” said Oscar.

De La Hoya is considering fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. or possibly Winky Wright.

De La Hoya said, “I would have to sit down with (Mayweather Sr.) and discuss it. He’s not content with his son right now. Obviously blood is thicker than water. That’s very understandable.”

The incentive to fight Winky Wright is strong within De La Hoya. De La Hoya noted because Winky beat Tito Trinidad and Shane Mosley, two fighters De la Hoya lost to in the past.

“That’s like killing two birds with one stone,” Oscar told the media.

Oscar De La Hoya revealed Thursday that he will go to an island off the coast of Puerto Rico to make a big decision, to retire or not to retire.

Thursday at a News conference presented by Golden Boy Promotions, Oscar was there promoting WBC super featherweight title fight between Marco Antonio Barerra and challenger Rocky Juarez.

Oscar told the media at the conference, “I’m going to get on my boat by myself and go to my favorite island off Puerto Rico, I have to sit down by myself. I need something to really get me going. Why am I going to be fighting for the money? At this point in my career, it’s not what motivates me.”

De La Hoya added: “When I decide, it will be for good,” he said. “I won’t miss the limelight, being in the ring, the cheers. It’s all beautiful. It’s great, but I’m not hungry for it.”

IF Oscar does not have the motivation to keep going then I don’ want him to be a stepping stone for anyone and secondly,he is soooo indecisive, one nterview,Hatton and Margarito are mentioned, the next…they do nothing for me.

I guess Oscar has disqualified Hatton for the running of an opponent just coz he didn’t look too impressive in his last fight. I somehow see that all this will result in him and PBF fighting.
Oscar is too much of a drama queen. he should talk to media when he has made up his mind, he shouldn’t give these mixed messages.

he told you he was undecided…he explained that money does not motivate him…he said hatton and margarito were now off the list because the only one that would lose anything in the fight would be him…He basically is looking at winky wright if wright beats taylor…He still wants to excorcise those demons…what mixed messages did he send out…the retiring bit…I understood that to be if he couldn’t get winky(loses to taylor) or PBF (and trainer won’t train him) then he has nothing left to prove and he could retire…that was easy…no drama…

neither Hatton or Margarito do anything for his legacy
