Can I ask what is your view on creatine?
Many people are all for it but nobody is certain what the drawbacks are could you share your view with us.cheers
What changes would Ricky need to make to his diet/training regime should he step up to 147?
Hello Kerry,
Last June, did I see Ricky at the BHOF in Canastota, N.Y. here in the states,…it was at the autograph and collectible show there.
Or was I talking to a look alike?
Thanks
Judy
Who wins?
Hatton or Mayweather
;D (and what round or decision? ;D)
Rick obviously has a fantastic team behind him, and is very fortunate to have such a great team.
In your opinion, as part of that great team, what makes that team relationship so strong and affective compared to other fighters teams? ![]()
Alright Kerry,
When do you recommed to eat after training?
I have been told not to eat straight after and to definately eat within half an hour of training, whats the truth God damn it, just gimme some truth man!!
Also, can you send me something for free? ;D I won’t tell anyone and most of these lot can’t read so they’ll never know ;D ![]()
Thanks dude
I’m not mental by the way, its just Friday ![]()
Hello Kerry,
When in full-training, what does Ricky eat on a daily basis, what suppelements does he take etc.
Secondly, can you give me a detailed summary of his weight-training program i.e. repetitions, how heavy, what exercises etc.
I must comend you being a fine nutritionist/strength work coach. I feel you work wonder with Ricky, considering he has to shift a lot of weight when starting training camp! Keep up the good work.
Morning Kerry,
When in full time training what sort of weights was you benching in your prime?? I can’t seem to get past the 500kg barrier, do you have any tips for a quick strength boost?
Ta
Scott
Oh i know,
Poppeye swears by spinach, have you ever tried having a can of it if you ever need super human strength??
Hi Kerry is it best to eat protein foods after or before workouts … i wondered if i eat before maybe i wont gain muscle so i eat after im abit lost
Kerry
Thanks for taking the time to converse with us fans…Good on ya!
As much of Ricky’s strength in the ring comes from his ridiculous work rate, can you delve a bit into his endurance conditioning program? Road Work? Pool?
Thanks
Hi Kerry,
I’m new here but have been a long time ricky fan.
I’d be interested to know what sort of lifts would you consider to be most important to focus on for an amatuer looking to develop maximum explosive punching power.
And which single supplement do you consider to be of most importance?
thank you for taking the time
Hi D.D…Saratoga…where the race track is. Yes, I would love to see Ricky fight at Foxwoods. It’s not far from my home.
But, I don’t understand why finding an opponent for Ricky is so difficult. Do you?

Is it true that rick was eating chinese’s the week before the kosta fight???
KK: Ricky was eating a massive amount of food for the full build up for the kosta fight, he was eating 4 or 5 clean meals, 2 Pro-Recovers, 1 Pro-GF, (Pro-Recover and Pro-GF are meals in themselves and 3 or 4 Pro-Flapacks, again the flapjacks are a balanced meal. At one stage i told him to increase his food and his exact words were ‘Kerry i don’t think i can eat any more’ so we upped his calories in some of the meals, his metabolism was that fast because of weight training, his boxing training and getting the right regular nutrition from morning till night he could afford these calories because of this he could also afford to take a chinese take away on saturday nights, i also belived it did him mentally good.

Hello kerry and welcome
Can I ask what is your view on creatine?
Many people are all for it but nobody is certain what the drawbacks are could you share your view with us.cheers
KK: Creatine Monohydrate has been on the market since before i won the British in 1994, but supplements have moved on, its main function is to attract water from various parts of the body into the muscle cell, this hydrates the muscle and increases ATP (adenosine triphosphate) storage allowing the muscle to contract more efficiently, the problem with Creatine Monohydrate, it needs the bodies natural transporters to enter the muscle and as there is only a limited number of natural transporters this can cause some of the creatine to be left outside of the muscle, where it can decompose into the waste product creatinine and attracts water, the big problem with this is if the boxer is tight at the weight, this can be obviously a bad thing and the only way to get roung this is to come off creatine monohydrate two weeks before a fight and you will loose all the benefits that it originally gave you. As i said earlier supplements have moved on all the boxers at the Phoenix Camp take, Pro-GF, which gives you the creatine but with a delivery system and other specific amino acids, it will make you stronger, you don’t hold water and you can take right upto the day of the fight. Note: You must take Pro-GF on an empty stomach to help its absorption.

What changes would Ricky need to make to his diet/training regime should he step up to 147?
KK: Not many, we would just have to move the target goal posts from 10 stone to 10stone 7pounds he could eat more calories in the form of protein, do a little bit extra weightlifting, retaining more, muscle. He defiently would do the same amount of cardio fitness training as we need him as fit at 10st 7 as he is at 10st.

KK: Get ready for an embrassing answer, everybody cares its not only about the fight its about enjoying the 12 weeks lead up, Billy is passionate about the welfare of all his fighters and has known Ricky from day one, its worth mentioning that i wouldn’t be involved in boxing if it wasn’t for Billy’s forward thinking, alot of boxing trainers have inherited ideas, some even think weights are bad for you. Billy always knew that people from bodybuilding backgrounds could help with weight control and strength of his boxers, whether you like bodybuilding or not, we are experts at gaining and loosing weight correctly. As i said the answer to your question is we all genuinely care and i think (know) Ricky would win.

KK: As soon as you finish training your body is in a catabolic state (if you have trained hard) and the first thing it needs is specific nutrients all the lads at the gym immediatly take Pro-Recover after training (and after there run at night), this contains a glucose polymers, to stabalise the blood sugar levels also two forms of protein both very fast acting allowing the body to use the complete range of amino acids for faster absorption it also contains vitamin C & E which are powerful natural antioxidants, helping the body rid itself of cell damaging free radicals that arise from intense exercise. All this info is free of charge, hows about that then!!!

KK: When Ricky does start full training he is like a buddist monk, (and i don’t mean bald and fat) he does everything 100% correct. His first meal will be Pro-GF on an empty stomach, and his Pro-Vital (vitamins and minerals) then next meal porridge and egg whites (if he dosn’t have the egg whites he replaces them with Pro-Peptide). He trains and then after training has a Pro-Recover, he will then have another 3 meals from the following, protein, chicken, fish, turkey, carbohydrates, potatoes, rice, pasta and i recommend that he has green veg with every meal, which will slow down the absorption of carbohydrates creating a slower energy source. For snacks he has Pro-Flapjacks and another Pro-Recover after his run at night. Billy likes his boxers to have hard and easy days Monday/Wednesday/Friday hard days, Tuesday/Thursday easy days, where he does most of his technical work. For weights Monday legs and calves, Tuesday chest and biceps, Wednesday no weights, Thursday back and hamstrings, Friday shoulders and tricpes. He exercises have changed slightly to suit boxing some of the movements in the exercises for bodybuilding are to long so i shorten some movements.

KK: If you are doing a 500kg bench you are breaking the world record, when i was in full training i would never do bench press i only ever used dumbells, every pec-tear have seen has been from benchpress. Pro-GF will give you quick strength but take it on an empty stomach.

Oh i know,
Poppeye swears by spinach, have you ever tried having a can of it if you ever need super human strength??
KK: This got exagerated from green veg, green veg is a very underated nutrient and you should have it with every meal. See i even answer the daft questions.

KK: Look at alot of my other anwers you will find all the info you need, you should also eat protein and carbs together but it is the carbohydrates (complex carbs) that will give you sustained release of energy for training and the protein gives a steady release of amino acids into the blood stream for repair and muscle maintenance.

KK: Ricky has got a wicked engine (those are Billys words) but it dosn’t mean he takes it for granted, he trains hard but smart, the easy days are just as important as the hard days, when you train, you are just sending signals to your body, whether that is for strength, engourance, timing or accuracy the body has got to repair before it adapts, his runs at night are steady and not massively demanding as he does his hard work in the gym, as far as pool, he prefers darts, ha ha!!

I’d be interested to know what sort of lifts would you consider to be most important to focus on for an amatuer looking to develop maximum explosive punching power.
And which single supplement do you consider to be of most importance?

KK: All your power comes from your legs, so i would consider leg work the most important, but remember lifting weights is to supplement your boxing training with Ricky i have always got to remember this,i am not trying to make him a weight lifter, i am trying to improve his strength for the boxing, so i always feel one of my hands is tied behind my back (for the right reasons), so he never does squats, even though this is a great exercise for strength but if you are gonna get injured it will be squating can you imagine Ricky getting injured before a big fight i can’t take that chance, i suggest warming up on leg extension, maybe three sets of ten starting out with 50% effort, 80% effort then maximum effort, then the 45 degree leg press 3 or 4 sets of ten again increasing in effort, until the last set is max, you don’t have to come down as far as a bodybuilder again, to put less stress on your knees and don’t lock out at the top, the single most important supplement would be Pro-Vital, if you see a lot of nutritional diets they mention nuts, seeds, dates, veg, fruit, wholegrains, these are all very important but in the real world most people won’t make the effort, Pro-Vital will take care of all these micronutrients.

scotts spinach question isnt so crazy as it seems on second thoughts. what, Kerry, do you recommend for Real Food on a training diet, sans supplements?
KK: Look at all my previous answers you will get the info you need from that.
Awesome Kerry, thankyou 8)
Nice one Kerry…
Great to have you on the site and thanks for taking the time out to answer all the questions.
