I actually fact-checked this to see if it was true. Yeah, the guy fought as recent as June of last year, but c’mon…
I then looked into who was sanctioning these fights and found that it’s an org by the name of BIBA (British & Irish Boxing Authority). In fact, BIBA appears to be known for licensing older fighters that other sanctioning bodies will not.
Out of curiosity I looked up who has the world record for oldest boxer to fight in a professional fight, and came up with the name Steve Ward, who fought professionally at age 64 in 2021. Under a BIBA license.
This is one of those oddities that is tough to believe. Not that a former boxer would want to fight almost indefinitely. But that any reputable boxing organization would sanction such fights, and much less grant licenses to these geezers.
Didn’t realize he had a son who boxed for a little bit. Apparently it served as his inspiration some 6,7 fights ago to go to Poland looking to beat the guy who defeated him. McCall lost the rematch weeks later. It’s an odd one, the age and should he or shouldn’t he. Tougher when it’s all you know for decades. Be a huge problem if he was being bashed up by up & comers but looks like just an old grizzled pro being very selective for some coin vs very old unestablished unknowns, last 3 guys being 48, 53 and 54 themselves. Man even made ‘history’ in that Frazer fight . I mean can anyone else picture McCall working as a walmart door greeter after all
