as some might now M_D joined an office pool regarding the eventual winner of the world cup. There was only four of us willing to join. Each of us got two groups assigned. There is of course a cash reward to the eventual winner.
of my two groups it looks like Argentina, Netherlands, the Swiss, South Korea and maybe the French might advance to the second round.
Of these five, which of my teams stands a chance of winning? I have yet to watch a game and I dont think anyone in the pool has watch a game either.
one guy got the groups with Brazil and Germany. He might win it all but how good are the M_D’s chances?
Argentina have been by far the most impressive team in the world cup so far and have a VERY high chance of winning it. Netherlands wont be easy for anyone, but I think they may be a bit too inexperienced to go all the way… Switzerland have been solid so far, although it was against a lacklustre French team and the unfancied Togo & South Korea. France need to go up a few gears and play to their potential (which is big I might add) if they are to be in with a shout… like the Netherlands, they wont be easy for anyone though.
Brazil are starting to come together now after their 4-1 demolition of Japan which isn’t good news for all the other teams and Germany will be a hard task to beat seeing as they are playing at home.

Like I said, you have a good deal with Argentina. They are generally regarded as favourites right now after they breezed through the ‘Group of death’, hehe.
On paper, Brazil have the best team in the World cup by far… but I don’t know, they just aren’t gelling properly at the moment, even though they are still winning. They need to get their passing game going better and iron out a few creases at the back.
If they get themselves in gear, they are pretty much unstoppable. Also, look at the depth they have! Guys like Juninho, Robinho, Julio Baptista, Gilberto Silva etc… all on the bench. Those guys would make any other team in the world!
