Don’t know if this fight will ever take place but it should have in 99. Mosley had not moved up yet and he was dominating at 135, Mayweather just won fighter of the year in 98 and was flying high. It would have been an epic battle. Mosley I believe packed more power, speed was very close because both fighters where blazers but Mosley should have a tiny advantage, Mayweather had better defense. Mosley I believe in a UD. If they fought at 147 currently Mayweather in a route.
Wowowowow, what a fight this would have been and I think Mosley would have won as he had the speed to stay with Floyd and the power, great combos to hrt him.Can anyone remind me what Mosley’s win/ko ratio was at 135? Would like to see how Floyd would react to Mosley’s power.Don’t you guys wish Mosley stayed there? I mean,he moved north, has made his money but in my humble opinion, never looked anywehere near as good..
I wanted to ask you about that,I really like Joel and I have heard that PBF ducked him too,I mean he is 1 heck of a slick southpaw.Where did you hear this?
Mosley looked great his first three fights at welterweight (including Oscar) but like I mentioned in my post there was a notorious headbutt and then the dominate Shane Mosley disappeared into thin air.
If Floyd had fought Casamayor it would have been a unification bout but Mayweather didn’t want any part of him. But when you look at back then and Floyd’s troubles with southpaws, ESPECIALLY back then I think Casamayor would have beaten him. he was just as good if not better defensively then Mayweather. And as far as speed they were about the same. Casamayor isn’t prime now and Mayweather is but back then Casamahor would have beaten Mayweather. Thats why I dont believe when Mayweather says he’s always been willing to fight anyone. Mosley he can excuse because he was a weight higher, but Casamayor was the same weight
I agree with you a tiny bit but I don’t think Casamoyer would have beat PBF. Casamoyer had trouble with Frietas, another speedster with great ring movement (but lesser than PBF by far) and was beaten and outclassed for the first six rounds until Frietas got winded, if that was PBF he would have finished him.
Name one good performance that Shane Mosley has had since the Forrest fights, and please don’t say the second Oscar fight because we all know he should not have been given the nod. He has never been the same.
Mayweather just started boxing 2 years in the pros by 99’ this wouldn’t have been a fair fight. At lightweight I think that two people would have beaten Mosely for sure… 1. is Mayweather … he is faster to the punch, and he is way more skilled… his jab would caused serious problems for Mosley. 2. Is Pernell Whitaker… could take Mosley’s best shots, few of which would land, and he do to Mosley what Hopkins did to Tarver… just out box.
it was still too early in PBF’s career…he did the right thing by resisting temptation and achieved greatness doing it his way and not rushing into anything…Jeff Lacy ring a bell?..don’t give me the “he was a champ” bs..there are so many titles out there to win that having 1 is not impressive anymore… both fighters need a couple more fights to perfect their styles and experience…
