This is a good fight, tbth… We can learn a lot about Itauma and Filip only has up to go for him.

Good fight really but not sure about the immediate transition into title on the line. But that’s what happens when all the belts are dropped. And tbh this division is years beyond needing to turn the page and put some of the geezers out to pasture. This is already being overshadowed by the Fury/AJ ongoing soap opera and it’s a shame. Could see bit of a chess match very early but once it gets rolling, I wouldn’t be surprised to see them fighting at completely different speeds and combinations. Itauma has a premier opportunity to showcase his mental game, poise and set up smartly. As with any young heavily pushed hvy like to see him soak up a dinger or two and show his beard.
I think this will turn out to be Moses hardest fight of his short career.
I can see Hrgovic leading early but Moses catching up and winning on points. Filip is too durable, motivated and strong to be stopped.

Filip Hrgovic told British heavyweight Moses Itauma he will “send him back to high school” when they fight for the vacant IBF heavyweight world title at London’s O2 Arena on Saturday.**
Unbeaten Itauma, 21, is aiming to become the second-youngest heavyweight world champion in history - Mike Tyson remains the youngest.
Hrgovic, 34, has repeatedly called Itauma a “kid” in the build-up, prompting the Chatham heavyweight to admit the taunts were starting to wind him up.
But Itauma played down their impact at Thursday’s news conference. “At the end of the day, talk is cheap. It’s schoolboy banter,” he said.
An Olympic bronze medallist with an extensive amateur pedigree, Hrgovic’s only pro defeat came against Daniel Dubois in 2024.
He dismissed suggestions he was trying to play “mind games”.
“I just tell you what I think. I think he’s a kid, he’s not mature enough. I think I’m the man. I’m a much better age, much more experienced. That’s it,” he said.
Itauma kept a straight face as Hrgovic continued: “I will smash the kid on Saturday and I’ll send him back to high school.”
Itauma has stopped 12 of his 14 opponents and has built a reputation for his devastating speed, power and timing.
“The perfect performance will be to go a couple of rounds and close the job,” he said. “Same script, different story.”
But Hrgovic laughed off the suggestion.
“We’ll see, man. No-one ever knocked me out any time in my life,” he said. “I only got stopped by Dubois because of cuts and I was in terrible shape because of sickness.”
The pair shared an intense face-off before Itauma left the stage.
Hrgovic then made light of Itauma’s earlier claim that the Croat had been shaking during a previous face-off, by telling reporters: “Look how much I’m sweating. Look how scared I am.”

looking forward to seeing how moses performs in this challenge. if filips face can hold up he might take this into the late rounds. if moses dominates & scores an early kayo it will be very impressive

Wow I’ve only just seen this fight is happening tomorrow.
I mean I knew about it getting made months ago but where’s the hype and the coverage over here ffs.
Need Moses to carry the torch now.
I’ve realised after fury and Joshua leave the scene - hopefully soon they irritate me - my knowledge of active fighters will be basically zero. How did that happen…
both guys are in good condition, filip at his lowest weight in about 6 years, he’s taken this seriously

Hrgovic is pumped up and ready for the fireworks.
Moses should not have pushed Filip off the stage. He deserved the slap.
Hope Moses reflexes are faster as he should have blocked the blow.

The weigh in scuffle has spiced up the hype around the fight.
Casual fans like mark tko are getting excited about boxing again. That has got to be a good thing.
Can’t wait for tonight. Really excited about this contest.

It is intriguing. Bellew has compared it to everyone getting carried away with Price who then got exposed at a higher level. I was just as impressed by Price’s power but Itauma is far more rounded than that. His punch selection is spot on and he never has to rely on one explosive leveler to end things. He throws a lot to the body too and I think he has the smarts to outbox Hrgovic before turning it up a notch and overwhelming him. Can’t wait.

Also looking forward to catching Plymouth based Ursu on the undercard. I shot his debut and he has gone on to capture the Commonwealth and British Welterweight belts. He fought the last two fights with an injury but is back to full strength now and I would not be surprised if he stops his opponent.
