MAYweather interview with sky sports

Floyd Mayweather told Sky Sports News that he knows exactly how to hurt Ricky Hatton when the two step into the ring for ‘Undefeated’ on 8th December in Las Vegas.

In one of the most eagerly-anticipated fights in years, the two men put their unbeaten records on the line at the MGM Grand, in a fight you can see live on Sky Box Office on 8th December.

The war of words has been going on for some time, and as the fight creeps nearer and nearer, the ever-talkative ‘Pretty Boy’ is keen to launch his verbal offensive to undermine ‘The Hitman’.

Mayweather is convinced that Hatton can only fight one way, and believes he knows exactly how to hurt the Mancunian, after watching his one and only knockdown of his career against Eamonn Magee.

The fight is about more than just title belts or undefeated records, with the prize of being known as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world at stake, but Mayweather believes Hatton is simply not up to the task.

“People have got to realise that Ricky Hatton is one-dimensional, you don’t become a pound-for-pound fighter, the best fighter in the world being one dimensional,” Mayweather told Sky Sports News.

"One thing the fans know from England, what fans know all over the world that we can’t lie about - he’s been knocked down before and we know that.

"We’ve seen him hurt before, we know where he can get hurt at, and I know where he can get hurt at.

“If he’s got so many fans and his fan base is so big, then why is this his first pay-per-view fight that he’s fighting in. Ricky Hatton should be happy that I’ve given him an opportunity to even share a ring with me, or an opportunity to get his biggest payday, it may be his last payday.”

Hostile reception

Mayweather did not appreciate the hostile reception he received in Manchester on his trans-Atlantic promotional tour, and he says Hatton will be made to pay.

"I thought the British fans, British males were nothing but gentleman, but what I came to see is that you can’t believe everything you hear.

“It doesn’t matter though, because Ricky Hatton is going to have to pay for what they did, and he better fight hard because I’m going to bring my best always.”

A lot has been made about Hatton’s fitness regime, or lack of it, when he is not fighting, as his weight fluctuates greatly in between fights.

Hatton has always managed to come out on top though, but Mayweather says this time he will be found out, and is predicting a drawn-out defeat for the Hitman.

“I feel that any fighter who is truly disciplined should not let his weight get too far, shouldn’t get too far from fight weight,” Mayweather added.

I mean I fight at 147 (lbs), and I weight 147, 146, this guy fights at 140 and walks around 170, so you can see who’s disciplined.

"A 12-round brutal beating sticks with you more than a guy hit you with one shot and you get knocked out. Anyone can say he caught me with a lucky shot.

“But a brutal beating where you close both his eyes, break his ribs and leave him with blood in his mouth, that sticks with you.”

Legacy

Always a relaxed character, Mayweather insists he thrives on the pressure of a big fight, and defeating Hatton will just put the seal on his boxing legacy.

"With me, I like pressure. I feel that a true, great athlete can perform his best under pressure.

"I don’t have another day in my life, even before the (Oscar) de la Hoya fight I didn’t have to fight another fight.

“I guess I have one more country to conquer. I’ve beaten the best every country had to offer, so now its one more to conquer, and I think that will put the official seal on my legacy.”

Sorry but more Mayweather poop!! I just dont understand why TEAM MAYWEATHER seems to be attacking Rickys fan base now?

On a positive note TEAM MAYWEATHER are incredibly sloppy in there research and seem to get a lot of facts wrong, I just hope there as sloppy in preparing their man for the fight.

Apart from the Gatti(who looked like a dear caught in some headlights) farce, its been a long time since Floyd damaged anybody!! Oscar looked like he’d been out for a run for fuck sake, and Baldomir who was reportedly “battered” would have had harder spars! You cant knock his skills, but man, does he talk a lot of shite!!

more pure crap from Floyd, he just talks pure inconsistent, hypocritical,IGNORANT, self-serving bo**ocks! i could highlight particular quotes and expose his own ignorant and uninformed brand of horseplop but to be honest its just too easy. i’d prefer a challenge of some sort.

If he has got the hump when 2,000 people on a rainy day in manchester give him a bit of stick just think how he is going to feel when he feels the fury of 15,000 brits give him what for at the weigh in,it proves that us fans have a massive part to play,CANT WAIT NOW… >:(

Watch the Ben Tackie, Juan Urango and a lot of earlier Hatton fights, Floyd. If you watch a lot of his later ones, you will be in for a shock.

  1. Rick has had lots of PPV’s in the UK

  2. I’ve never seen a British fighter go to America and immediately have a PPV match. I don’t think Hamed’s
    fight with Kelley was PPV.

From what I remember, it was Floyd that stuck his middle finger up and cursing to the Manchester crowd. The only person who is going to be made to pay for their behaviour is Floyd Mayweather.

I saw the interview this morning and it just confirmed what i’d already seen and thought of the arrogant prick.

Mayweather’s in for a rude awakening at the weigh in as 99.99% of the people there will be giving him stick for being such an arse. The other 0.01% (Leonard Ellerbe) will still be blowing smoke up his arse telling him that all these people have come to see him, and the things they are shouting are not directed at him.

He’s undoubtable talented, but undoubtable he knows it and that could well be his downfall (hopefully) as he undestimates every mear minnion that lives under his existance, obviously due to his popularity, gratiously in his world, that for which we all must so dutifully grateful - tosser

If he wasn’t such a good boxer i’d like to give him a good hiding mysef

the more I hear him talk, the more can’t wait for Ricky to ruin him in the ring. Mayweather is such an ar5e

My thoughts exactly.

Hatton is no way one dimensional (the way he boxed Oliveira was a sight to behold) and has been fighting under SKY PPV for years.

I can’t wait for the weigh in… lets give him some stick guys… really get under his skin the jumped up little pixie turd

On the 8th it will be a sad day in UK.

King of kings will be on display that day and ive said it before and ill say it again, heart and determination can take you so far but god givin talent will prevail at the end. Hatton the best of luck to ya because it will be needed.

to me the mistake a ot of people make is looking at this as boxing ability versus some loveable Brit who got where he ison heart and sword-and-shield type fighting. Not true at all, how many of Hatton’s fights have been slugfests? Hatton has an extroardinary amount of talent, its just different talent to Mayweather. You only have to look at Hatton’s spearing left uppercut, faultless footwork, and effective pressure to realise this isn’t some meathead with a horseshoe in his gloves ::slight_smile:

People make the mistake of painting this up as anything other than a boxing match, but thats what it is, Hatton, an excellent boxer, going up against Mayweater, the reigning best boxer on the planet. its simple really, so for people to talk about Hatton like he has one arm or like he hasn’t proven himself to be one of the very best boxers on the world is foolhardy in my opinion.

Keegan! you forgot…Team Mayweather!!
Are Floyds ribs talented? ;D

Do you really think Team Mayweather are sloppy in their research, estimation of Ricky & his skills? I do not believe all the stuff when Floyd says Hatton is this, or he’s that! That’s just Floyd saying that to the cameras, the media. When it comes to boxing, Mayweather is no idiot. He knows the sport inside-out, & he won’t underestimate Ricky, despite what Mayweather may try ot make you believe!

I truly feel only a fool would underestimate Ricky Hatton. In boxing, especially at world level, if you do that, the consequences can live with you forever i.e. you suffer a defeat. I bet if Floyd was asked have you watched any footage of Ricky, he would say no, O don’t need to. However, that could be another lie. Mayweather, or atleast someone in his camp, will be doing some research into Ricky & the way he fights.

Ricky is looking better & better as each week goes by in training camp. I’ll be honest & come straight out & say when the fight was first announced, I felt Floyd would win. However, after really thinking about the fight, coupled with the fact that Ricky looks in briliant condition already, my confidence in Ricky has grown. I will be going mental for Ricky to pull off the upset come Dec 8!

If he thought all British males were gentlemen, perhaps we should turn up as sterio-typical gentlemen with pin stripped suits and bowler hats for the weigh in, they should be cheap to pick up from a charity shop, Then give it him both barrels!!!

i SAY OLD CHAP WHAT A JOLLY GOOD IDEA…

Hear, Hear, good show old bean! ;D

haha, thanks brother for reminding me… i did forget but let me make it better this time around.

TEAM MAYWEATHER

Shall prevail !!!

Let me comment on matty post …

Would like to say that im not over looking hatton and also i am the far away of thinking he has no boxing skills because i know he does …Ive watched in slow motion his fights and studied them to perfection.

When hes on point, he will come forward but and i say but his head will move to the left most of the time to GET AWAY from the JAB and when the other fighter misses that jab he will jump on his opponent with his mauling technique and hooks to the inside.

Now another thing ive noticed from the BRIT, is that he is very quick on his feet and can jump around from side to side very quick which leads to punches coming from different angles.

His punches are short armed but he has the quickness and the technique to get inside which to be honest has eliminated the reach disadvantage that he usually has going in fights.

I give credit to hatton on his fights and is a tough fighter , and its not only his fighting style but has boxing talent because in boxing if you dont have boxing skills then you wont be where hatton is at.

MATTY, these are the reasons ive always said IF MAYWEATHER had fought COTTO instead of hatton then i would just laugh at the fight because it would be a easy fight for mayweather because

COTTO isnt nasty as hatton, cotto is SLOWER ON HIS FEET, and hardly has any HEAD MOVEMENT which means it would be easy target for mayweather.

The bowler hats idea could be good fun - only a fiver if anyone fancies doing this, I think i’m going to invest ;D

Yesterday some one asked for peoples favorite boxers nick names well i’ll post mine now. THE WHITE MEXICAN

Mexicans have a boxing heritage to rival that of any other fighting race on the planet and I feel that the nick name they have for Hatton is a mark of true respect!! They respect Ricky for the his talent, excitement, heart and most of all his warrior spirit.

True legends of the sport Duran, Leonard & Barrera have all commented on Rickys ability & Barrera has become a friend who I fully expect to see walking out with Ricky on fight night.

Mayweather, his camp and advisors and even his supporters out there (Keegan) need to wake up and smell the coffee… Mayweather is going to war, Hatton will take him deep into the trenches and for all the crap PBF spouts on a daily basis, rather than work his mouth so much he should start to prepare his body for the punishment its going to take!!!

I dont deny he may win this fight but by the end of it he’ll know thats what he’s been in and it could just be an epic folks.

Floyd is hyping the fight - like he has against everyone of his opponents 8–)
