“De la Hoya pega más que Trinidad, pero además me jodió con su velocidadâ€, explicó el nica.
TRANSLATION: “De la Hoya hits harder than Trinidad, but also screwed me with his speed”
I don’t believe that..he just forgot what tito did to him…delahoyd got the benefit of another tito ruined fighter…i.e. vargas…tito destroyed vargas with the first punch he landed in the first round en route to knocking him down 5 times…then knocked mayorga down three times..
That’s like sharmba mitchell said PBF hits harder than KT…but’s that’s bull shat because KT just ruined Sharmba that’s all…
Was glen johnson’s shot on roy harder than tarver’s nope..it was the after effect of the first punch…
I think DLH hits hard… as hard as Tito at best. However DLH is by far a superior boxer, he sets his shots up better, times his shots better, and hits his opponent with a shot that he does not see or anticipate more often. Knockdowns and knockouts are often a product of a well timed, well placed, unexpected punch… not just raw power.
CC, basically what I was going to say… Trinidad is obviously more powerful, but DLH definetly puts his shots together much better. I don’t think Mayorga was all that ruined by Tito or anything, and the fact is that he was completely open 100% for the taking in both fights, DLH could just capitalize on those opening better, imo. Trinidad couldn’t have scored that first round KD like that, he needed to acumulate the damage because he’s not the same kind of counter puncher as DLH. It has nothing to do with Mayorga being washed up or ruined, he was sticking his chin out at Tito for gods sake and wildly swinging like he always does, DLH dropped him because he caught him off balance like he always is, doesn’t mean his chin was “dented” neccesarily. THat’s not to say Tito didn’t beat the living hell out of him, Im just saying it didn’t seem like Mayorga was any sharper in that fight at all, he’s the same fighter.
He also did it because he was able to catch Mayorga in between those shots because of his counter punching style. Tito basically waited for Mayorga to throw and then threw back till one of them fell.
I’m a huge Oscar fan…but I can promise you that Tito hits harder…Oscar is a bit more precise though…& I think that that is what made alla the difference.
I was much more impressed with Oscar’s showing over Mayorga than I was Tito’s…but this is Mayorga…& that aint sayin much IWO.
I’ll be sold that my boy is back BACK when he beats…saaaaaaaaaaaay…Winky. ;D
Timing has a lot to do with how power punches feel to the other fighter. DLH did a great job of getting inside Mayorga’s wide punches and catching him with his own straighter ones. Remember that the punch that knocked Mayorga down in the 1st round was a left hook thrown while Mayorga was throwing his own.
The same thing happened to Vargas in his fight with Tito. They both threw left hooks, but Tito’s got there first.
Finally, I think there’s also something to the theory that a fighter loses the ability to shake off head shots very well after absorbing a devastating KO loss. This, I believe, affected both Vargas and Mayorga as a result of their fights with Tito and well before their subsequent fights with DLH.
I think with trinidad, mayorga could see tito’s punches coming thats why he was able to take them so good. with oscar he couldn’t the left hook because of the speed of oscar’s punches. definetly tito hits harder than oscar.
CC,i agree. Tito hands out career ending beatings and Oscar benefited from that,it does not mean he hits harder, more Tito beat the resistance out of Mayorga. I can’t believe we are agreeing :o
Mayorga could be trying to lull Tito out of retirement because he thinks Tito would destroy Oscar…he’d be wrong…if his brain was working in such a twisted Desperate Housewives sort of way. ;D
I must give you credit Wacko you said Oscar would destroy Mayorga, and even though I thought Oscar had better boxing skills I did not think he had the power to knock him out (good call). But Tito is not Mayorga and Oscar would never approach Tito strait ahead like he did Mayorga. What’s interesting to me is that Oscar and Tito look just like they did in their younger years with fast combinations and hard punching. Tito had a lackluster perfomance against Winky but he can still go. I think a second Oscar-Tito fight would be better than the first (Tito in a KO if Oscar want’s to trade) and ( Oscar with a UD if he follows the blueprint). I would rather see that than watch PBF make Oscar into a punching bag.
I would second that. I think the second Tito-Oscar fight would awesome, tito would come out to make a statement to try and erase the embarrasment of winky fight. Oscar would try to make statement to rid the ghost of the first Tito fight. fighting PBF will bring him a whole lot of glory and money but oscar has enough of those and doesn’t need to be embarrased out of the ring.
