Hey guys, been ages since I’ve posted. I was just starting to get into boxing when I was last posting, then suffered an elbow injury (not from boxing) that put a stop to my training.
I have decided to give it a go again and start early next week.
Last time I had issues with pain on the inside of my right hand. I figured out it was because I was trying make a tight fist in 16oz gloves and hold it the entire time. I had a brain wave a few minutes ago and am wondering; During bag and pad work with 16oz gloves, am I even meant to be trying to make a fist at all?
Any help would be appreciated.
When you make impact with bag or pad you have to make a fist otherwise you would injure your hand?
Thanks for the reply. I woke up this morning wondering what the hell I was thinking. I blame sleep deprivation.
I have hit the bag yet, but, if I do run into the same issues what can I do to help? I think better technique would be a start, but, would increasing grip strength help too?
Strange place to feel pain, normally the wrist is the weakest point and that needs strengthening.
Yea I guess it is. Never had an issue with Wrists or knuckles. And the pain on the inside of my hand only started when i bought my 16oz gloves.
