Question: Do you think a fight between Jeff Lacy and Peter Manfredo
Jr can happen by the end of 2006?

styles are great, and I think my guy can outbox Jeff Lacy. I
think Peter is ready to step up against a guy like Lacy.

I think Manfredo would struggle with the strength and size of Lacy , although i aint seen his last fight (3rd round KO of Scott Pemberton) (Lacy Ko’d him in 2)which was at Super Middle although i have read about it , Manfredo is a decent boxer but i would be worried about his stamina (he faded fast in the contender)
Although saying that he has joined up with Freddie Roach which will only help him improve .
I think manfredo is the kinda fighter that would be torn apart by lacy. I saw him fight pemberton and he was impressive, but pemberton faught even worse than he did against lacy. Freddie is doing a good job with peter, but I don’t think he’s ready yet.
Could this be another “mini tyson likeness for Lacey” After Tyson lost to Buster douglas, his invincibility was scattered to the winds, could it be the same for Lacey? Just curious as to what you knowledgable people think.
I totally agree with you yoitsdan! I just don’t think Manfredo is up to that level yet. Sure Lacy got battered in style by Calzaghe but up until that point he tore up any opposition put in front of him. He was the next big thing in the USA.
I think Manfredo struggled with second rate fighters in the Contender. I’ve no doubt that Freddie roach will develop him further but I don’t personally think he’s ready to fight at that level just yet.
He was killing himself to make weight on the contender, he walks around at 190 from what I hear, I think that was the reason for his poor showing on the contender. Just cos lacy lost to calzaghe, it doesn’t mean he’s a bad fighter, he’s still world class.
i like lacy…just think manfredo has a good chin and can box well…actually what the hell am i on about lol how did lacy stay stood up in the calzaghe fight!!! …all respect :o…but i am not sure if lacy can come back to as he was after that beating,therefore is the timing good for manfredo??? also i think freddie roach is fantastic…but again his view on the lacy /joe fight was way off!!!mind you so was everyone elses lol

I doubt if Lacy will return to fight anyone thats got a chance of beating him - I suspect his management will line him up against opponents that are purely there to re-build Jeffs confidence levels for his 1st 2 or 3 fights back.

I think you misunderstood me Yoitsdan. I am still of the belief that Lacy is a world class fighter.
Nobody wrote Barrera off after losing to Pacquio and I think it would be foolish to write off a young fighter such as lacy.
I think it’s sad that a boxing has risen to stardom because of a manufactured tv show.
yes your right…there is lots of talented boxers out there…but its like everything else been in the right place at the right time

I think it would be a good fight. I think Manfredo would be the better boxer but i dont know whether he would be able to cope with Lacys power. I reckon it would be close for a few rounds but Jeffs power would become too much for Manfredo in the end. We dont know how much Jeff has been affected by his loss to Calzaghe and whether or not it will show in his performance.
Froch Vs Manfredo would be more interesting..
Lacy destroys Manfedo in 5rds. Manfredo doesn`t hit hard enough to keep Jeff off, a total mis-match.
i’m done with jeff lacy for a while…
“little holyfield” seemed promising for a while. But, he let me down. I’m not as impressed with calzaghe as everyone else. I think he exposed a shitty fighter. I see it as the begining of a downward slope for lacy. Now that everyone knows he’s not invincible, he’s gonna have that to deal with. People are gonna actualy fight back. He’ll be lucky to get on friday night fights, or boxing after dark. I hate to be quick to call him a bum…

Peter Manfredo has improved GREATLY under Freddie Roach.
Jeff Lacy has no skills / they were thinking if he could get an early K.O with his big power punch…he didn’t need to learn any skills. They pushed him too soon.
Peter will destroy Jeff Lacy.
