I remember when Lewis fought Tyson in America . The ref did everything within his power to help Tyson but it wasnt enough that night .
I used to respect Cortez as a ref but he showed bias on Sat . Having said that Floyd was the one landing the K.O punches so props to him . Its the best hes looked since Gatti

i have said this in another post… it may not have affected the outcome… mayweather was class hatton was found out but that should not mean cortez goes unpunished for the earlier rounds… the way i saw it was that early on mayweather wanted 2 fight on the outside… hatton wasnt allowed 2 fight on the inside as the fight went on mayweather came inside more and if im honest was the 1 initiating the clinching (hatton was trying 2 get in close and up until hatton tired mayweather was just holding after that he produced a masterclass) mayweather seemed 2 be able 2 get away with it (have no problems with that as hatton got away with it against castillo n kostya (cant spell his 2nd name haha) mayweather was always gonna win wen hatton was not at his best n himself was on top form but cortez needs a long look at them 1st couple of rounds he stopped them getting in within a metre of each other at times… he dint even let them touch each other (not in a gay way ;D) but then again what does it matter hatton cunt win unless he was top of his game n he wasnt… but my point is what if hatton was on top of his game and the fight was closer… cortez would have caused the outcome of the fight…

I agree with Kornyme, critics and analysts all agreed that the only way he would beat Mayweather would be to wear him down early on and stop him from gaining any rhythm in the fight, watching the American replay the American’s had Hatton ahead till round six when the point was taken off.
I felt angry watching the replay it was clear that Cortez would not allow Ricky to fight his fight and would not allow him to put into operation the ONLY strategy that would have beaten PBF, In one particular occasion Ricky seemed to have PBF rocked and Ricky was throwing punches to try and get a foot hold and the referee jumped straight betwen them in the middle of the action? The most bizarre thing I have ever seen in a fight and now I know why people say that Las Vegas is corrupt! Cortez was also constantly calling Ricky’s name throughout the first six rounds, if someone was constantly calling my name I wouldn’t be able to concentrate either.
The point taken off in combination with the restriction of the referee made Ricky desperate and you can see a definite contrast between round 1-6 and 6-10, from 1-6 he was using the jab to good effect, using lots of feints including feinting his footwork which seemed to work a charm on Floyd, plenty of head and lateral movement and also giving himself more room to work, all of this went after round six and as we saw Ricky walked into some big shots.
I am not saying that Hatton would have one if the fight if a different ref was in there as of course we will never know, it would have been nice for him to have the chance to fight his fight and I definitely think that it would have gone the distance without Ricky being knocked out at the very least
