Cotto beating Sugar Shane Mosley has expressed his desire to fight anyone. The young undefeated fighter showed excellent professionalism and maturity as a fighter.
If ricky Hattons fulfills his dreams and beats floyd, and then beats Dela hoya as i think that fights been agreed. Will it be a fitting end to a GREAT career to finish with a fight with cotto? UNDEAFEATED ll
Right now, i don’t wanna see Ricky in there with Cotto at Welterweight. However, after a fight or two after the Mayweather one, should he win… (and perhaps a Mayweather rematchh) it could be made.
Undefeated II
I like it…
Beat Mayweather in Vegas
Beat Mayweather in Wembley rematch
Beat Cotto in Madison Square Garden
Beat Witter at M.E.N in last career fight…
Retire…
Hasn’t Billy Graham already said himself that he would not put Ricky in with Cotto? I’m sure I saw an interview from a link on this forum where he said that.
Hattons ultimate test will not be against COTTO, it will be on the 8th. ;D
Let me say something about cotto, This past weekend i think he suprised alot of us in his 12 rounds against one of the best fighters which is sugar shane.
Alot of peeps in here thought mosley was going to easily outbox him and ko him either late or early. Didnt happen, this is why i thought it was a hard fight to pick because i knew cotto can box but we always see the brawler cotto. I knew he can box because watching the malganatti fight, cotto was landing straight crosses and jabs from the outside which were hammering paulies face, and in majority of his fights he likes to throw alot of crosses and sometimes jabs to get inside.
Can we officially say his chin is good at 147 ? I think we can , i mean mosley has alot of knockouts in his career and landed clean shots and didnt even stun cotto.
Why i respect cotto ?
Well it started out at 140, when he was uncomfortable in his weight and he went through some fights getting tossed around , and in each of those fights he regrouped, got his legs back, and got his power that lead him to Victory which means he knows what to do when hes hurt and he has the heart to comeback and win in tremendous fashion.
A true warrior takes your best shots and even though hurt, he will regroup and fight back till the end !
On an end note, hes been with pretty good boxers in there and brawlers…
Paulie malganatti no power but has pretty good boxing skills
zab judah can outbox you if he gets the early rounds and has sharp shooter punches that can stun u
Mosley has quick hands, power, and boxing skills that can beat alot of great fighters.
Torres has punching power and can beat alot of average to good fighters out there if they fight him
Why does Hatton need to win to fight Cotto? Who cares about being undefeated, all the greats have lost fights and they are remembered because of their entertaining styles and skills not their records.
Hatton-Cotto would be a great fight in my eyes win or lose .
Yes without question, if Hatton beats Mayweather in December then Cotto will be the ultimate test and in my opinion, the perfect fight to go out on with a win. I think its fair to say that Mayweather is the ultimate test (how can you top beating the best boxer in the World?!), but if Ricky continues to fight the best then a Cotto fight will more than likely happen in 2008.
I think first he will get an absolute-monster of a payday against Oscar De La Hoya in May if he does beat Floyd, but certainly the fight with Cotto is on the horizon. In the meantime, Cotto will be kept busy fighting Antonio Margarito and/or the Williams/Cintron winner.
which is why i am respecting cotto more and more because we both know that he will fight any top fighter at welter at this time and will do his best to knock them down one by one like dominos :-\ ;D. Can he go through the welterweight division ? Well he just got passed a very tough welter this past weekend.
One fight i would love to see , COTTO VS CINTRON !! Alot would favor cotto but not me. Cintron to me is the 2nd best welter right now behind PBF . I think he has really turned it around ever since the loss to margarito, especially with stewart training him which means he is using the jab and timing his right cross just perfect and not going wild .
I disagree with Mosley being a banger, given he has fought the elite over the past six years, but apart from Vargas who has he knocked out in the last six years??? Judah hits alot harder than Mosley imo.
so your saying mosley doesnt have the ko ability ? Well the last 6 years as you say , he has fought in a 154 division where hes not comfortable at…He has also fought at 147 in between those 6 years and did he not hurt ESTRADA with a vicious HOOK to body , did he not drop collazo ?
He has 30 ko’s for a reason and it might not be a 1 power punch, but he can put in combos that are fast and hard, not like before but still is respectful enough to hurt somebody.
I think you have proved the other guy correct. He didn’t really land that many meaningful combos against Cotto therefore I do not think you can state from that one fight whether his chin has improved or not at 147.
i think if it turns into hattons last fight and Cotto is still undefeated he will take it, im sure billy will agree to. Hatton will want this as it could be in madison square gardens, Where there have been great fights. He can then say to his kids’ my last fight was in madison square gardens you know son, what a venue’ lol
How can it be proven ? Does getting stunned mean chin is no good ? Cotto at 147 has a good chin because DEMARCUS CORELY has no knockout power at all and wobbled cotto at 140 , mosley did hit cotto alot of times that didnt even bother cotto at 147 . Judah has punching power that landed a couple of uppercuts in like the first 2 rounds in their fight and i wouldnt say he hurt cotto bad but he dazed him a little bit but regrouped very easy .
Facts are facts, and at 147 cotto hasnt got tossed around like he was getting tossed around at 140 which i would think that means his chin with extra weight helps him . I think judah and mosley both hit harder than CORELY ?
Cotto would be a great test for Hatton but what concerns me about Cotto is that he gassed a bit in the middle of the fight against Mosley and where as Hatton doesn’t stop coming forward, that could make all the difference.
