if a number is negative for example

-225, then that’s how much you have to bet to win 100 bucks

if a number is positive for example

+163, that’s how much a 100 dollar bet would pay out.

so in this case

Froch pays out 44 cents on the dollar

while

Magee pays out $1.63 per dollar.
