[QUOTE=TigerFan;1088776]Is the Sam Peter fight still on? Boxrec took it off a few days ago.[
/QUOTE]Yes, looks like Peter-Sconiers is off, so Iāve removed it.
The return of the great Bert Cooper! Hold on. Let me get the finger out of the back of my throat. But seriously. I donāt see anything on the list that impresses me at all.
Does Wlad want to enhance his legacy or play safe at home? Surely he has made enough money that if he loves boxing as much as he says he can fight in the states and reach a compromise. The USA isnāt the be all and end all but in the heavyweights it is a market and opportunity lost for someone like Wlad. He is so dull and a bit of a bully though and probably fears having a neutral judge.

Agree with all of this (except āprobably fears having a neutral refereeā). Granted, there are no really good options in the division, but the Arreola fight they rejected is the best of this bunch. Unknown polish guys? Not so much.
Itās too bad a Povetkin fight canāt be forced somehow. Clear that he will never fight a Klitchko in favor of milking that BS belt against beatable guys for the rest of his āprime.ā Still, I would have to think he could get a one-time payday against Wlad that would be bigger than his next 15 fights against off-TV no-hopers. Thatās one they could actually promote ā a āunificationā bout (as absurd as that is).
Thereās no American heavyweights willing to fight them at the moment. Wladimir-Arreola was pretty much agreed on for New York until Vitali mentioned retiring after a fight or twoā¦now Arreola and his camp changed their minds and are now waiting for a shot at a vacant WBC belt.
On Povetkinā¦the first backout in 08 was suspect from the beginningā¦his handlers claimed he was in training running through the woods and tripped over a tree stumpā¦then Rahman got the call. Could it have happenedā¦yes but I have my doubts
To be fair to his handlers, they were ready to throw him in with Klitschko in 2010ā¦but Atlas stopped Wlad-Povetkin from happening claiming he wasnāt ready. Hereās a quote from Atlasā¦"Sauerland [who promote Povetkin] and his people wanted him to get on a plane for a press conference. It was a few days later, on a Monday, where the match would be signed and it would be announced. He said āno, if Teddy Atlas tells me not to get on a plane I wonāt.ā After that Teddy had Povetkin fighting in unlicensed fights here in America. I believe one of those āfightsā is on youtube.
I hope Wilder fights someone in the BoxRec top 100 next (someone decent like Shane Cameron, Carlos Takam, or Sherman Williams).
Heās quite capable of beating people like that. He needs the experience against better opponents or he wonāt be ready for the top ten when the time comes.
