There are numerous examples of action packed all out wars
Hagler/Hearns
Benn/Barkley
But what about mind blowing defensive displays, immaculate counter punching, one sided masterclasses etc?

Nice and that title is amazing btw, funny enough I have an article coming tomorrow about haggler hearns as it was on this day 46 years ago (tomorrow) that it took place in history. I have never watched the round where Willie pep won without throwing a punch but that’s gotta be up there as the best if true.
Herol Bomber Graham against Rod Douglas was boxing beauty. At one stage in the contest Graham had his hands on his hips teasing the tired but dangerous opponent.
Roy Jones whole career is a thing of boxing brilliance but his humiliation of Richard Hall was fantastic to watch.
Mike McCallum beautiful jab and body work stopping a tough Michael Watson is artistic.
Sweet Pea comprehensive boxing and shutout to win his first world title against Greg Haugan was vengeful for being robbed the first time.
Loma likewise is an artist that could not be worked out and he was only beaten by bigger fighters that he dared to challenge.
Shakur masterclass over Teo was outstanding considering he was the smaller man.
some of the rounds in pernell v oscar were mesmerizing
floyd v canelo
most of nicolino locche’s fights
some great defensive performances:
james toney v iran barley
winky v felix
oleksandr v murat
Someone already mentioned Roy Jones Jr., but I thought his dismantling of Vinny Pazienza was spectacular. I enjoyed it thoroughly as well. ![]()
Speaking of one-sided, enjoyable beatdowns, how can I forget Pacquiao vs Margarito? ![]()
I was going to mention the Pep round Saddo did. Have heard about it but never seen - not even sure if there’s footage of it
Seen a Pep interview where he says it doesn’t happen it was hype.
A boxing myth.
I guess we should include one of the most brutal one sided rounds of all time…
Round one of Jack Dempsey Vs Jess Willard
and that kinda reminded me of this great round…
Mike Tyson vs Michael Spinks
One that always seems to go under the radar fighter wise, but Buddy McGirt on opposite sides of brilliant performance always comes to mind for some reason. Young Meldrick Taylor into his 4th year pro was a must see gloved buzzsaw taking his first title v Buddy. McGirt was fighting underwater in the second half. Years later McGirt would show masterclass beating champ Simon Brown.
Naseem Hamed flawless performance against Steve Robinson to jump up in weight for the world title in the champs own country and shut the fans up was one of the finest boxing I have ever seen.
