crackin fight, im excited already
Has this been announced?
Would have rather seen burns v broner because a think burns would have had more ov a chance but still a big underdog.fair play to Rees though he deserves this shot but fancy broner to stop him after 5,6 rounds.
Seen it on sky sports tam
So it has, well done Eddie for delivering another big fight. Good luck Gavin and well done for landing the opportunity.
burns broner would be good too
i think rees is as tough as they come and will give broner a totally different fight, yep rees will be the underdog but we’ll see what broner has
But where ? Uk? Us?
Hope not in cin cin
Really? Is this official? Good luck to Gavin because he’ll need it.
It’s official. No offense guys, and Rees is legit domestic, but Broner is going to run this guy into the ground within 3-4 rounds. Credit to Rees if he goes 7 rounds.
i agree broner is a massive favourite, i think 3-4 rounds is being very unfair to rees
mid rounds is a posibility because rees sometimes struggles at about 7 or 8
I think Rees will do well. I dont know about winning but he should give Broner his hardest fight to date. He isnt that easy to hit and pressures well.
Rees only loss was up at welter. He isnt the midget in this fight, they areboth the same height, Rees has experience fighting much stronger men.
I’ll be rooting for Gavin Rees but I don’t think he has a chance, especially since the fight will be in the US.
If it’s close which I doubt it will be, the officials will favor Broner because he’s a Haymon-managed, Golden Boy-promoted HBO house fighter.
Really? Rees should be able to take this later. An early stoppage would be stunning as Gavin can take a beating and keep on coming.
Rees is durable but carnt see how he wins this fight Broner is in a different league to him imp.
It won’t go to the cards.

According to promoter Eddie Hearn, he reached an agreement with Golden Boy Promotions to match Gavin Rees (37-1-1, 18KOs) against WBC lightweight champion Adrien Broner in an HBO televised main event on February 16th at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Broner (25-0, 21KOs) will be making the first defense of his world title.
“We have agreed on terms with Golden Boy for February 16 and will now proceed to contract. Delighted for Gavin, he deserves this massive shot. Of course its a tough fight but also chance of a lifetime and Gav isn’t fazed by it all. And to those pointing out it’s a tough fight - thanks for that…we had no idea. This is what you are in the game for,” Hearn stated.
Rees, a former WBA junior welterweight champion, moved down to the lightweight division in 2010. The only loss on his record was a 2008 TKO defeat at the hands of the very tough Andriy Kotelnik.
I really like Gavin but as my granddad would say he’s going to take a hiding.
Maybe but I think at the least it will be like Matthew Hatton giving Alvarez one of his toughest fights (toughest opponent rather).
I think Rees will aquit himself well and it could well earn him another payday off the back of a good showing. Hes value and will push Broner.

True enough and he has worked pretty hard. I’m sure he will give his all.
Agree on Hatton being Alvarez’s toughest opponent. If Matty had any pop he would have had Alvarez in trouble on several occasions.
Rees is going to get battered, I have never rated him. I though Murray would have beaten him if he was fully motivated for the fight. I bet Broner would come to the UK for this fight, easy money.

Can’t agree with people saying this will be a tough fight. Rees isn’t better then demarco and Broner strolled there.
