“Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao 2 set for Netflix rematch, 11 years after record-setting mega-fight”
Boxing may not be dead. But damn… it’s certainly in a worse place than it was 10 years ago.
“Floyd Mayweather vs. Manny Pacquiao 2 set for Netflix rematch, 11 years after record-setting mega-fight”
Boxing may not be dead. But damn… it’s certainly in a worse place than it was 10 years ago.
And there you have it folks !
The highly anticipated rematch between the highest skilled grandad’s who are nearly 50 years old. The one we’ve all been waiting for!!
I love Floyd as a fighter but as a person ? He went out undefeated, healthy, and wealthy. Now look at him ?… Coming back at nearly 50 to give the haters that L that they want on his record. I valued what his 0 represented and he’s going to sell that zero to pay for his retirement plan. They don’t give a fuk about giving him another $50 mill, as long as he get’s that L.
Pretty damn sad how someone can make almost a billion and still be hard up for cash. When Ellerbee and Haymon were on board it seems everything was smooth as butter. But he got away from Haymon and got with the small hats and they took loans out on all his assets and drained his dumbass.
All Floyd had to do was chuck 20 million in an account and he’d earn 1mill a year interest a year.
But when you’ve been trying to live like you’re a Saudi Prince, FOR OVER 2 DECADES and you buy tons of watches, cars, jewellery, mansions, planes and bytches. Plus man’s got a gambling problem, hard to feel sorry for a man who’d gamble life changing amounts of money for most ppl doing 50, 60, 70 grand bets on college football games like it’s nothing and he was also funding the lifestyle of all his kids who haven’t seemed to amount to anything despite having a great start in life.
Boxing is full of boxers who were rich but ended up with next to nothing.
[ul]
[li]Joe Louis ended up broke and addicted to heroin.
[/li][li]Ezzard Charles was wheelchair bound and paralyzed due to his Lou Gehrig’s disease.
[/li][li]Sam Langford was blind, broke and practically homeless for most of his life after he retired.
[/li][li]Iran Barkley and Matthew Saad Muhammad were homeless after they retired..
[/li][li]Riddick Bowe sells autographed gloves at flea markets.
[/li][li]Leon Spinks; the guy who beat Ali winds up working as a janitor.
[/li][/ul]
Don’t get me wrong, the likes of Sugar Ray Leonard, Naseem Hamed, Carl Froch, Tyson, Klitschko’s, Michael Spinks, Lennox Lewis and most famously George Foreman (RIP) with his grill have not gonna broke and are doing very fine financially but they are exceptions. Generally for most fighters they’re getting plugged for a pittance, unless they’re box office, and even then they’ve got to deal with all the pitfalls of the big time
Boxing is a really low reward, but heavy price sport for most.
But how dumb do you have to be to lose the sort of money Floyd’s made in his career ? And the reason I’m focusing on Floyd not Pac-Man, Well Pac-Man wasn’t doing this

And now Floyd has to comeback at 49 ? Even though his main trainer, his uncle Roger “You don’t know sh*t about boxing” is dead and Floyd’s pad work is trash. He can’t even extend his punches full range because his muscles have stiffened up. He’s a little hunched in the shoulders too. He’s aged big time and the sad thing if he get’s past Pac-Man (And that’s a big if) I can see him fighting a Ryan Garcia (I REALLY CAN) and getting knocked out and having his precious “0†go
As for the fight ? I wasn’t even that excited about the fight 11 years ago as it was past it’s sell buy date even then. So imagine what I think about the fight now ?
The first contest was 5 years past its sell by date. This is 2 fossils fighters desperate to sell their legacy to the highest dollar.
They are using old footage when they are hyping this fight. Both old more like the picture above. ![]()
I wonder if the exhibition fights against Mike Tyson and Provodnikov are still going ahead?

FLOYD MAYWEATHER looks to fight TWICE before his rematch with Manny Pacquiao – despite being warned about his comeback.
Mayweather announced he will face Pacquiao again on September 19 in Las Vegas – 11 years after winning their original blockbuster.
But the American great is set for two warm-up exhibition bouts before doing so – starting with a proposed April 25 clash with Mike Tyson in Africa.
The two boxing legends revealed last year that they had signed contracts to meet in an exhibition some time in 2026.
And the DR Congo – which famously hosted the 1974 Rumble in the Jungle – is the leading contender to host.

Floyd Mayweather will fight veteran Greek kickboxer Mike Zambidis in an exhibition bout in June before his rematch with Manny Pacquiao.
Pacquiao, 47, and Mayweather, 49, will fight at Sphere in Las Vegas on Saturday, 19 September, live on Netflix, in a rematch of their 2015 ‘Fight of the Century’ - the richest bout in boxing history.
And former five-weight champion Mayweather - who announced he would come out of retirement for a fourth time two weeks ago - has decided to take on Zambidis in Athens to prepare for his first professional boxing match in nine years.
“2026 is already shaping up to be an exciting year for me,” American Mayweather said on Instagram.
“I’m on the way to entertain!! Athens, Greece, get ready. This summer will be a legendary battle.”
Zambidis, 45, boasts a 157-24 kickboxing record with 87 KOs. His last official fight was in June 2015.
Mayweather has not had a pro bout since beating mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor with a 10th-round technical knockout in 2017.
Ali and Foreman must be rolling over in their graves.
This is great and signposts the future of boxing ……
Next up is a catch weight officially sanctioned bout between Big Bird and Kim Kardashian’s housekeeper. The winner will go onto a hybrid boxing/figure skating eliminator versus the actor who flew the 1980’s helicopter ‘Airwolf’ before obtaining a title fight for the WBX Bahraini sponsored world heavyweight championship.
it won’t bother anyone that the Airwolf guy is actually dead.
