Corrales 5 pounds over!
Chico loses WBC lightweight title on the scale
By Rick Guzman
UPDATE: Corrales stripped naked and weighed in again at 139.5 lbs. He now has two hours to lose two pounds, the maximum allowed by the Nevada Commission, which will result in Corrales losing his WBC championship on the scale.

WBC lightweight champion Diego Corrales has weighed in five pounds over the lightweight limit. Joel Casamayor weighed in at the division limit of 135 on the first try.

>:mad

he is stupid, he is a disgrace to boxing

Casamayor sounds like he wanted to take Corrales’ head off too

http://www.boxingtalk.com/pag/article9908.html

And Corrales comes in at 140 ::**

I think back to all that sympathy he got for the third Castillo fight and everything else and etc etc that went on and all the talk and the “Me and Castillo WERE friends and now I cant respect what he did” and things like that and then he goes and does the same thing. I hope SHO chews a hole in him too like they did to Castillo and lets see what fair is, because if they try to give Corrales an excuse..

I read on skysports he’s moving up to welterweight to fight for hattons vacated belt. I guess he just wanted to avoid fighting this one

oh he in trouble… unless casamayor’s camp allows him to fight… which they might not… two hours?
its not till tomoro night?? think he could loose that if he worked his ass off make 136 within a pound of the limit! still a disgrace that he could diss jlc and then not make weight… so now one he has no genuine excuse not to have the rubber match with castillo poss at 140? (prob best for both of them)
and plus if he didnt make wieght he must jus not have trained properly… meaning he in trouble cos casamayor has had his number twice now man … its too close never mind not bein prepared… thats if he does fight and doesnt get fined and suspended maybe worse…
u know if there any chance of it bieng a mistake on the scales?
they wieghed roy jones in at 192 for his fight against ruiz when he was around 201!!..? maybe hope the fight still happens
peace

hmmm are you certain that cotto is not fighting for this title?? im sure he is…
maybe he is considering to fight for that title but it will have a holder by the time he does but nothing is secure
all this is if he doesnt get a big suspension!!
peace

Fer feck’s sake, are boxers just slightly retarded or what? After seeing Castillo and the slating that he received after the last weigh-in, how can he expect to turn up and not be roundly criticised for turning up on the scales at that weight. He’s a darn eejit, and definitely deserves to be stripped of the weight. I assume if Casamayor wins he still gets the strap?

The following is from Pound4Pound.com

Chico Stripped! Who’s Sorry Now!

Here’s what we know, Diego actually weighed in at 139.5, he has 2 hours to lose the weight, but, since Nevada Boxing Commission rules state a fighter can lose only 2 pounds maximum for health related issues, that means Diego will only be allowed to get down to 137.5.

That means…you guessed it, Corrales will be stripped!

Here’s something else we do know, considering everything he has been through and the stance he took, Diego ought to be ashamed of himself!

End.

I say..

I personally did not hate on Castillo for not making weight twice and I am not going to sit here and demonize Corrales. All I can say is oh well, I would like to hear John Goosehead’s take on this, because if I recall, he was very critical of Castillo.
Castillo and Corrales should fight each other at what ever weight they want to come in at. They owe the public a fight, this we know. Make it happen.

yes

so u recon they goin crazy trying to find a replacement contender to fight for the vacated title?
cos thats alot of money down the pan bro!!
i think one thing will happen … when corrales is allowed to fight again… at least fact is theres not a title tying him down to the lightwieght division so he can pick a fight from two or so divisions??
not that he deffo had to stay for the title but its jus picking his spots while he had it.. but now he doesnt
peace

First off, this can’t be any surprise to him or his camp, that’s what pissed me off about Castillo, as much as they weigh fighters, as much as they keep track of the weight, as much experience as they have making weight, to come in that much over is just ridiculous.

What makes me mad was Corrales saying on air that time for the third fight that didnt happen.

“Well he could have at least called me! That would have been the respectful thing to do. He could have called me and said “I cant make 135 anymore, lets try to do it at 137 or something” because fighters drain themselves to make weight, and it was disrespectful of him to allow me to get myself to 135 the morning of the fight knowing he was overweight.”

Or something like that. And now..

Yeah… RAH-Diculous!

somebody clear this up for me, isn’t Chico still in the middle of suing Castillo ???

I thought I heard he was suing him but I don’t know if it ever happened or if its still going on. If it still hasn’t been resolved, then the idea of him coming in five pounds overweight for a fight while he’s suing another guy for coming in 5 pounds overweight is just too funny ;D

With this I’m gone for today. Later everyone at Saddo’s see you all soon.

didn’t even drop the two pounds

Looks like the fight between Diego Corrales and Jorge Casamayor will go on. If Casamayor wins, he claims the WBC lightweight title outright. If Corrales (who forfeit the title on the scale) wins, the belt remains vacant, however Casamayor would be entitled to an immediate fight with WBC interim titlist David Diaz, even if he loses. There will be a second weigh-in Saturday at noon and neither can weigh over 147 lbs. Corrales will be fined $200,000 bu the Nevada Commission, $100,000 of which will go to Casamayor. There are still undisclosed issues ($$) between the camps, but as of now we have a fight.

yes there is def irony in this one having chico been the victim twice from castillllo. but i think its pretty hilarious how they are writing over and over again: DIEGO WAS STRIPPED COMPLETELY NAKED!!! :lolololol:

This is getting out of hand, it’s RRREEEE-DEE-CULOUS!!!

The Athletic Commissions need to get thougher on these regulations about weight, I would suggest a years ban from Boxing that’ll do the job.

This is great! ;D After talkin so much shat bout Castillo, Corrales does the exact same thing in his next fight. Hilarious! ;D I like Corrales, but maybe now he’ll come off his high horse about the whole Castillo situation, maybe Showtime will too. This reminds me of Jesse James Leija. After he got screwed against Camacho Jr., after junior quit on a cut, was screaming “I’ve been fighting for 15 years, and I’ve been cut, and I fight through it, I don’t quit”. Then in his very next fight against Micky Ward, he gets cut, and quits. Or least allows it to be stopped like Camacho jr. did. ;D
