Ben Whittaker (12-0-1) will take a giant leap towards a world title if he can overcome Conor Wallace (17-1) in his next outing.

The pair are set to square off in an IBF light heavyweight final eliminator bout to determine the mandatory contender for unified [WBA, IBF and WBO champion]

Whilst the winner secures a No.1 ranking with the IBF, it is unlikely they will land a shot at Bivol any time soon.

As was first reported by talkSPORT.com, Whittaker will face Wallace on October 3 at the Utilita Arena in Birmingham.

Whittaker said: “I am delighted to be bringing a big night back to Birmingham again after a successful trip to the States.

"This is a proper step up on my way to becoming World Champion , and I’m excited to put on a special performance for you all again.

"See you all on October 3.”

I am a fan of Whittaker and hope he wins this fifht and one day becomes a world champion.

There are a lot of good domestic battles that can be made. Hope they can be made eventually. When he is ready.

lol he said he is gonna be the greatest of all time, lets see as he was alittle gassed after 3 rounds and got hit so time will tell when they step him up. but I’m here for the journey and wish him well
