AMIR KHAN insists he would have turned his back on the alleged racist provocation that got Zinedine Zidane sent off in Sunday’s World Cup final.
The 2004 Olympic boxing silver medallist from Bolton is Muslim like French star Zidane.
And he said: “If someone said something like that to me, I’d just walk away from it. I’m a man and I can walk away.â€
But, after hearing Zidane was allegedly called “the son of a terrorist whore†by Italy’s Marco Materazzi, Khan, 19, revealed he “understood†why he reacted.
And while light-welterweight Khan, who hopes to fight Craig Watson in September, has never been racially abused in his pro career he is adamant he could handle it.
Khan added: “People say things in the ring but I just stick to my boxing.â€
Who gives a flying fuck what he thinks of it. Really is he that big in england that they ask this bullshit to him? Who the fuck has heard of him? No one here has so he cant be too big in society.
I haven’t done nearly enough to comment on anything, but I am still able to comment on anything I like. Just because some idiot can run quite fast and kick a ball does not make him better than anyone else.
Im saying the article has been published as in to say people actually care about Kahn’s view of Zidane. Asif he is some kind of sports star whose opinion we are sposed to care about when i for one couldnt care less and im sure Zidane wouldnt.
Am I the only one who thinks that Marco Materazzi is being vilified beyond what he should be. Zidane should know that all this, granted taken to extreme by MM, bu to react the way he did was absolutely idiotic.
My first thought after he did it was that he might get away with it, and good for him, because if he’s retiring from football, then they can’t give him a football ban! I wasn’t disgusted as all the pundits seem to be, it’s a sport, and even at the lowest level people get tense and react badly.
Really, if Amir Khan thinks he’s a bigger man than Zidane, we’ll see it by what he achieves. And personally, however he takes all the winding up, boxing is a very different game, and if someone insults you in the ring, you hit them!
I heard recently that Matt Skelton is taking a few weeks out for an intensive course of Anusol, after suffering through training with piles. Oh yeah, and he said it really hurts when he’s on the loo. Boxing news?
The thing is he ain that big in England. Everyone I know thinks he’s a cock and can’t wait to see him beat, but unfortunately right now he is the darling of the media.
But like you I do find it pretty damn annoying that this 19 year old boy who has won fuck all is given a platform where he can pontificate on the actions of France’s all time greatest soccer player.
Not only has he commented on the careers of legendary fighters, noting their mistakes and saying how he will avoid these pitfalls, he’s also regularly ‘the voice of the respectable muslim in Britain’.
Add to the fact he already has his own autobiography out and you can see why so many people hate him.
