He tried to put words into Ruslan’s mouth last night. The Russian said he always has trouble “with runners.” He said it twice. But Max rephrased it as someone who can hit and move out.
Max acts like he knows what goes on deep inside the mind of a boxer, but he has never boxed himself and will never ever know what it’s like. I’m sick of his bug eyes, NYC accent, and all around bullshite. In particular, I’m sick of his poor interviewing skills.
Interesting that there is something wrong with having a NYC accent. To me its the best one!!
But anyway, I have never been able to tolerate HBO unless it was either Roy, Emmanuel or George who was talking. They really should let boxers talk more and leave the arguing to the post fight analysis or something.
Lampley is particularly annoying as he only seems to want to actually commentate as a way to cut off (or cut someone out) from an ongoing argument. Wanker.
I was actually thinking last night how much I like him as an analyst. He usually says things that others won’t say which I like. I do agree though that he is not a good interviewer but he has gotten better over the years. I like kellerman though. I can’t stand lampley. Ward has gotten better also. If they replaced lampley with someone better then the hbo crew would be solid. I hate both blow by blow guys (lampley and Mauro)
They definitely need to get rid of Kellerman and I also have to add Roy also. 2 former fighters that did an excellent job commentating on HBO were Ray Leonard and Big George. All the rest are awful, especially Roy, that man could never really enunciate his words and now he’s starting to slur his words because of the numerous kos he’s received lately.
He actually is a bit more irritating now. I liked him much better back on FNF when he and Teddy traded constant barbs but he, Lampley and Ward are a bad clunky mix. Lampley straight invents stuff. Provo slips to begin the 8th and within 20 seconds it turns into he ‘has buzzed him a couple of times when they traded left hooks’ from Ward :cheerleader:Kellerman isn’t afraid to attempt depth but his delivery and interviews are “:o” and broken.
I have to agree. I never liked Kellerman. As a fellow boxing enthusiast he’s ok guy, I guess…and its good to see someone excited about boxing. Too often I feel like he regurgitates stuff said elsewhere. Its like when you were kids and talking baseball, there was always the one hyperactive kid that just started vomiting stats and trying to talk over people like hes the only one that ever read the back of the baseball card.
Then he starts jawing and trying to disagree with panelists (Roy, Lennox, Manny Steward) that actually have been in the ring. Merchant used to do that with foreman and it got irritating after a while. Kellerman annoys me like merchant did. Talking to hear himself talk. I’d keep him for the face to face segment where he seems to add tension to the segments by just being his annoying self and pissing off both guys… but that’s about it.
Jones used to be good at commentary but then started voicing in when other fighters should be hanging them up while his retarded ass keeps on with the delusion that he can still become a meaningful world champ, but still he’s not as annoying as Lennox Lewis who had to turn every fight into a story about himself, flyweights could be fighting yet he’d find a way to make it all about himself, plus the guy would stutter more than a person with tourettes syndrome
