He is not worthy of paying any attention to at this point and time. Plus, since Crawford is retired, he is not worth mentioning either, even if he comes back to fight Boots… There is no other fight on the radar that would be anywhere near as intriguing as Opetai v Benavidez.
Let’s make it happen. No need to rush it, but put the feelers out there for the PR machine and let it build. For God’s sake, get a good promotional team behind you while you are at it as well? The same guys that built up Fury v Wilder 1, 2 and 3, get them!! They know what the fuck needs to be done to promote a fight of that magnitude.

No brainer mega match up and Benavidez has his own impressions to maintain and opponent to topple in Dec or so. Then, zero excuse not to put this one in cement. I do reserve a spot, per usual in this self-sabotaging sport, that hopefully bullshat politics and egos do not muck this one up! One of the best things last Saturday was what felt like a genuine real time meet up ring center, respects traded, challenges presented and agreements on a direction. Some of these ring rush square offs can be very contrived and devolve into highschool bs, but something about Benavidez and Jai keeping it direct, simple and mutual gives a sometimes cynical fan hope. And a great thing, there was not a promoter, hanger on mouthpiece or cornball in his bathrobe standing between them fronting for the cameras or shouting over their shoulder. Fighters wanna fight.
