Who wins now? AJ v Wilder

Who would win now at this stage of their career?

AJ who is fresher and better boxer but lacks confidence and psychological vulnerable.

Wilder who has punching power and his reputation back but still no technique or timing?

I’d be 50:50 on this one though think it’s less likely these days Wilder would land the big one.

A win for either would be meaningless.

These are still 2 of the biggest names and punchers in the division. They are near enough the same level at the moment in time.

The contest would be huge and sets up perfectly a contest against Tyson Fury.

It is like Bowe v Lennox which never happened. I would rather see it than not.

I always believed AJ would land first and knock out Wilder in an exciting fight.

aj should win easy

Its interesting that the prospect of AJ v Wilder seems so pointless now.

AJ v Fury would, and perhaps will, still sell, but without any forseeable title ramifications Im not sure many see the point of AJ v Wilder.

I guess its symptomatic of the modern day, trinket title obsessed, social media boxing age we live in.

Back in the golden era of heavyweights B-level and even C-level bouts were good draws, but in the moderm age of PPV and paid subscriptions I’m not sure this one sells enough to fund the purses each side will demand.

Years ago I would’ve answered Wilder without too much hesitation.
Today I would answer the other way around.
Wilder to me is a poster child for “damaged goods.”

b-level & even c-level bouts can still be good draws, if that’s how they are presented. not as pay per view main events. put them on undercards or whole cards full of them & i have no issue

This division is so stuck in a repetitive turnstile of needing the turn the page. Literally, can we just get to the next generation . Little gassed out with always hearing a shot to bits Wilder, a massive “no clue whatsoever” semi retired Fury and a clearly sliding AJ reset immediately in high level events, let alone PPV events. Feels like a recycled smoke n mirrors fight that missed its shelf life and sometimes they miss their shelf life for a reason. One is Wilder is clearly shot and fighting on memory. Man is going to get hurt, more than he is already displaying.
