Has anyone heard Emanuel Stewart’s interview where he said that Mcgirt stated Tarver told his corner he wanted out of the fight during the early rounds???
That’s the reason why his corner told him not to look for the one punch, when that was exactly what he needed to win, because he was only trying to survive!
Because Tarver went into that fight with the gameplan to blow Bernard away with power and strength and overpower him and manhandle him. After the first round he knew that wasn’t going to happen so mentally he was already beaten
HE’S A BUM… HE’LL ALWAYS BE A BUM. HE NEVER GOT THE “RESPECT HE DESEVED” CUZ HE NEVER DESERVED IT. HOP IS THE MAN… HAHA TO ALL U HATERS WHO THOUGHT HE COULDNT DO IT. LONG LIVE BHOP THE LEGEND
Just like they said Roy was satisfied with surviving the distance with Tarver…Tarver wound up doing the same against B-Hop…
Karma is a Mofo…Roy must have been one adamant SOB watching that fight, Who would of thought That a worn out weight depleted Tarver would be happy to survive against B-Hop
He’s a great fighter??? Oh come on. The TArver that fought Jones every time was the same Tarver that was in there against Hopkins, it’s just about styles… Roy let Tarver get his shots off because he had no energy or will to win in the case of the 3rd fight… In the first fight Jones looked terrible and still won since Tarver can only keep up a good pace for the last 20 seconds of each round. Crack cocaine is terrible for your respiratory system. Anyways, Tarver also looked like junk vs Glen Johnson in each fight, watch Hopkins fight Glen Johnson, it’s pretty clear who’s a better fighter.. And as for the third fight with Roy, please… That was exactly the same Tarver that fought Hopkins, I suppose it would have been an impressive performance by Tarver if HOpkins had thrown six punches and danced around the ring for 11 rounds then leaned back into the ropes and got rocked late??? Tarver has been terribly inactive and unmotivated since he KOed Roy Jones, which was as close to a lucky punch as you will see, imo… He simply ran into a fighter who was better than him, better prepared, more talented, period.
he looked and sounded pretty confident all the way until he went in the ring.
i dont think its just me, but when i saw the look of hopelessness (it was VERY obvious) on tarvers face at the end of the first round, i KNEW who the winner would be
Yeah but thats my point he looked beat as soon as the fight began. I’m not making excuses for him, I’m no Tarver fan but he just didn’t look right. He had nothing.
imo…i think tarver realized very quickly (1st round) that whatever strategy he had against hopkins was not going to work and on the other hand he maybe realized that b-hop had the perfect gameplan for that fight
remember bernards southpaw crushing straight right…imo that was his golden ticket

[/quote]He looked beat beause he realized he was in for a fight..and that B-HOP hit a helluva lot harder than he anticipated…B-Hop took his heart…

Oh come, you think he went in totally fit and confident, 100% ready and Hopkins just completely punched the heart out of him in 1 round? ???
I don’t like Tarver but I think he has more self belief than that. He just didn’t have anything physically. Look at his punches, he was throwing with no conviction. I agree he knew he was beat from the first bell, but because he just had nothing in the tank, not because Hopkins owned him in the first round.
Credit to Hopkins it was a great performance, he deserves all the praise he has got, but Tarver was very, very poor. He did an Audrey.
Wow, now I gotta Cool Click ya P4P King. You nailed it man. People are putting too much emphasis on Tarver’s weight loss. I saw the EXACT same Tarver from the third Jones fight, in there with Hopkins. It’s a shame Roy didn’t throw more punches because he could have done the same thing as B-Hop did. And that was a once in a lifetime punch that Tarver landed against Roy in the 2nd fight.
Probably because he is a tremendous athlete who is a superior technical boxer that made history last week and has a boat load of other tremendous accompolishments to his resume..
Majority of fighters bend the rules and all have subtle ways they do so if the Ref dosent catch it or say anything than it is what it is…They call it being CRAFTY
