I know this was discussed a while back as people were talking about having some good deals after being with SKY for a while, I wasn’t happy as I was still paying top whack of £43.50 a month. G-Man, I remember u saying something along the lines of u had that cost halved, and halved again.. I spoke to someone and they halved my bill, but only for 3 months.. My question is, has anyone had a permanent discount and is it a regular thing that many people have had? I have just noticed my bill is back upto £43.50, so I want to contact them and ask for another discount, and it would be good to say I know for sure of people who have had permanent/longer duration discounts than the 3 months I had, so I can argue with them until they give in.. ;D ---

Yeah, i’m not too sure why it happened either cos i didn’t ask. They halved it for 6 months then halved it again for another 3 i think. Juts say you’ve been quoted a killer deal from NTL and they’ll give in. ;D ---

I cancelled sky and went to cable company Found Sky to be arrogant when it comes to customer service and fleecing me on repairs of THEIR equipment!! Difference between SKy and cable: Signal: cable virutally perfect, sky weather dependent and affected by local interference - i found mine was going out of reception every 2 hours, sky couldnt fix it after 4 visits Repairs - cable own all the equipment - if anything goes wrong they fix it free of charge. With SKy they charged me £75 for a callout 4 times (£300 total) to fix their own set top box which they didnt manage to fix even after that. They replaced the box but all they do is give you a re-conditioned old one and pretend it is new - that also packed up in a few weeks, so another £75 repair bill In summary Sky are quite happy to give you faulty equipment, so that they can get regular £75 repair costs - after 4 such visits I cancelled, and they still charged me 3 months cancellation fee. My cable company are amazing, and just fix anything for nothing ---

In fact, I don’t even watch SKY much thinking bout it lol :-\ I never ever watch the movies but I have the movie channels :🙂 I watch footy now an then, an Hollyoaks on E4, which I could watch on Freeview, might scrap it all together unless they give me a VERY good deal, will ring em when I can be bothered. ---

im with sky, movies and sports as well, what amazes me is how with about 900 channels there is still fook all on… only got it for sky sports now setanta have nicked half of the fights… and the braodband is shite, goes off every time i use it, have to turn it off and back on, bloody thing! rant over cheeky fookers, just remembered they sent a letter few weeks ago saying the bill is going up by anothe £1.50 or something - as if its not bad enough ---

I pay a stupid amount for the top package on Multi-room with Sky+ soon to be HD and Setanta too Only watch the Footy, Boxing and Fishing! It does get used by the rest of the familoso though ---

yeah ive got the full package aswell is expensive though! used to have the chipped cable box but the channels started dropping like flys 1 by 1! you cant beat sky though mate especially for the footie! just wish it was a little cheaper! ---

Bastards \>:( Finally got round to ringing sky, said to them people I know have had their bills halved, halved again, etc etc, mine was halved once for 3 months but is now back upto 45 quid a month and I no longer wish to pay this unless you can offer me a good deal such as the above, as I hardly watch any channels, if not, then I want to cancel my subscription.. ‘Ok sir well I can’t offer u any deals so shall I cancel ur subscription?’ \>:( I asked why certain ppl get these deals and how can I get one, I was told it’s a different department, that they can’t get in touch with, (bollox), and it’s a random act when they offer deals to ppl and u just have to wait to see if u get one, how ridiculous, thats like giving football players a random bonus regardless of how good or bad they play, what kind of system is that!? Lies, all lies! The minimum package deal I could get was £37 a month when I mentioned what channels I want to keep, just sport and movies, it’s not even worth reducing the channels to save £8 :🙂 One of my mates used to say televison is 1 of the most anti social things in the world anyway so I think I will agree with him and cancel my subscription now. I bet her team leader wouldn’t agree with her letting customers go so easily. ---

Just got rid of sky, just too expensive and the customer service is sh\*te. Only watched cricket, footy and the boxing. Watch it all through my PC for nowt now, bit inconvienent wathcing it that way but hey, can’t argue for nothing! ---

I was in the same boat mate so I switched to cable and got the 3 for £30 deal - Broadband, tv line and basic channels and then I swapped my cable box for a eurovox. I have over 237 channels now and its bang on 😉 ---

Everything I’m about to tell you is true: I was on the phone to SKY for over an hour and a half last Thursday trying to barter down the deal. I spoke to eight different people in 6 different departments, each more clueless than the next. I was basically told that they get different deals on a different times and that there simply weren’t any at the moment. One guy told me he’d seen 1/2 price for 6 months but it wasn’t on, so there was nowt he could do. He suggested calling back another time to see if it had changed. I said ‘so what you’re saying is you can do it but I’ve got to ring back…surely there’s someone there that can authorise it and then that’s me boxed off for a year’…and that’s when the fun started getting bounced round the departments. In the end I got hold of a manager who said she couldn’t offer anything as she’d lose her job but she would offer me a £30 goodwill gesture for the hassle (which should just about cover the cost of the 0870 prefix). Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced and they absolutely refused to ring me back. One of the last customer service agents I spoke to said she had no record of me speaking to the other people I’d spoken to..! I was fucking livid. I’m not finished with 'em yet either FUCKERS!! ---

I was with NTL for years was Diamond Cable when I started with them, switched to Sky when they lost certain Sky channels, couldn’t live without Sky Sports News and The Simpsons. Pay £43.50 a month which inc’s sports & movies. Stayed with NTL for phone and internet. Total cost for both £63.50 a month, bloody rip off. ---

Lol, half way thru reading ur post I was expecting to eventually read that u had got somewhere.. However, I still refuse to believe that any customer service can be as bad as what I experienced when trying to cancel my Setanta subcription, a combined total of around 3 hours b4 I got thru to somebody, calling at what ppl will agree are the quieter times too. there was some interesting stuff about how to best get the discounts from sky on the moneysavingexpert site a while ago that. They got current and ex-employees to write in with the inside info on how they distribute the offers. Basically they get x ammout of discounts of varying levels per week to use to keep customers. They reccomended the best time to ring was about the middle of the week or just after as the people are reluctant to gice out the offers at the beginning of the week for fear of having none left at the end. When I was with sky I managed to get the 6 months half price by complaining about the box. I rang up as I noticed a couple of channels were not playing - like bbc 4 and BEN etc. I rang them up and they tried to charge me £70 for an engineer to visit. I refused to pay pointing out that they had informed me the box was worth a considerable amount of money and thus I could reasonably expect it to last more than the 2 years it had under the manufacturers guarantee. They eventually offered for the engineer to visit for half price, to which I said “You’re not getting this are you - I refuse to pay for one of your engineers to replace the unit, as it should still be under warranty!”. In the end I told em to stick it and when the channels that I was actually interested in watching stopped working I would be canceling. A couple of months later one of the sports channels stopped so I rang them up and told them to cancel my subscription. They asked why I wanted to leave, so I explained about their refusal to repair the faulty equipment they had provided without me having to fork out more money to them. They offered to replace the box for free - I told them it was too late for that!! They then offered me 3 months half price, I said don’t bother I don’t watch it much anyway now, then they offered me the 6 months half price and to replace the box for free.
