right hook?

i have two books. the one book says that there is no need for a right hook because anything you can get done with a right hook, you can get done with a right cross. so use the cross.
my other book outlines a right hook. i decided to trust the first book so i don’t train using a right hook, but can you guys confirm or deny this?

sometimes in a close situation you dont have room to throw a cross or straight right

try slipping to the outside of a jab and countering with a hard cross… 9 times out of ten you won’t have the range to do it… the right hook is a very powerfull tool.

The right hook is also the right cross; its the same punch, it is called a ‘cross’ because it “crosses” over an opponent’s left lead.

yea a “hook” can traditionally only be executed w/ the lead hand ..video games and certain ppl etc sorta mess this knowledge up lol

I suspected it was the same punch wasnt sure though

???
The right hook and right cross aren’t the same punch.

If your an orthadox fighter and tecnically sound, the right hook wont be used much, but in some cases there will still be uses for it so you’ll need one.

so if you throw a right straight across an opponents left hand it would still be called a cross?

Want to know what a right hook can get you?

Watch Prime Tyson and Prime George Foreman! Right hooks are not an expected punch from an orthodox fighter but they are great for close quarters and when you got a guy on the ropes and the power you can generate with them is incredible!
