Its not hes been taking easy fights, its that the people he’s after are avoiding him.

He only fought Maussa to dominate the belts in Light Welter to make Cotto and Mayweather fight him and to clean up the division. At the point everyone ran away - Mayweather ran to Welter, Cotto would never even be put on the table, Gatti, Harris and Mitchell self-destructed.

SO he went to Welter to catch the stars there. One by one they all pulled out - a huge number - leaving him only 1 fighter with a belt he could organise it with - Collazo. That was a far closer fight than nearly everyone had predicted, becasue Collazo is pretty good.

He then thought THAT would pull the mega fights, BUT Mayweather runs again, Cotto never seems to be even close, Baldimir is fighting… So who else can he fight? A belt holder eg Urango or one of the other second rate Light Welter belt holders is te only option - blow them away in style and make the rest of the divison shiver

The only question I have is - why cant anyone organise COTTO ???

I see where you’re trying to go with this but I think the idea that all the quality fighters at 147 ran from Rick is not at all accurate. From what we have heard there have been absolutely no serious negotiations between Hatton’s camp and Mayweather, Cotto, Baldomir, Margarito or any other quality fighter campaigning at welter. Let’s not dillude ourselves into thinking that Rick has called them all out and they have gone running. That’s not the case. Rick and Floyd have both priced themselves out of a fight with eachother so far. Baldomir wanted Floyd and it was for more money. Top Rank and Fight Academy are 2 ships passing in the night doing the 2 weight tango. Margarito would take a Hatton fight in a heart beat.

I love Rick. I’m a huge fan. But, I’m not going to kid myself into thinking that he’s issuing challenges to the elite fighters within his weight range only to be run from. So far Fight Academy has sought out opponents - Not Career defining fights. All the noise from Banner and FA has been to “position ourselves for the REALLY BIG FIGHTS”.

Maybe Castillo will be a change in direction and re-establish some of the lost momentum. I think it could be.

But 2006 was a lost year.
