the commentary is actually pretty good, but it dosent feel like HBO, i guess since there is no Larry Merchant Jim Lampley or Howard Lederman. Also no Michael Buffer. No boxing is boxing without Michael Buffer or Jimmy Lennon Jr. I think the old BAD is better
I really liked it. Although I thought the announcer had a cool voice, and Lennox Lewis was surprisingly good.
They suck, Kellerman is too biased, Fran Charles is too uncomfortable in front of the camera, and Lennox needs his pulse checked every so often.
yeah, it was crap
I liked it. Kellerman mocking Lederman(both have rhyming last names) was funny
It made Showtime’s commentary look inspiring. ![]()
BUT, and this is important, I think I know the reason why there is no Michael Buffer, Jim Lampley, and Larry. ![]()
They get paid too much. I think HBO’s new lineup of good matchups are coming only because they took the budget away from hiring those higher paid commentators and showmen.
I also think they took the bugdet away from having name fighters fight on BAD. Recently, it was Winky, Mosely, Barrera taking easy fights, but still getting a good payday.
Even though the commentating was horrible. I give HBO credit for putting the budget on fighters that need exposure, rather than putting it on Jim Lampley, Mosley, etc, on a one sided matchup.
Although, HBO should have done their homework and looked for better commentators.
Kellerman making fun of Lederman was a trip…Max should be the blow by blow guy though…I think a 2 man team would be nice with special guest appearances by trainers or fighters
Please…that’s a bit over the top there babe.
the announcer was awful…i could of done a better job
I thought the commentary was pretty bad, but it was the first time out and it can only get better, at least I would hope.
But in the end, the fights are what matter and I’m glad there making a commitment to BAD. Hopefully there’ll be more entertaining fights, but its hard to blame HBO for that crapfest, I mean we were all looking forward to the fight, on paper it sounded good.
anyone who hates on merchant for taking 10 minutes to get a sentence out best be equal opportunity and hate on lennox >:mad
BEST BE, GANGSTER FOR BETTER BE…
GANGSTA TALK
RIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT?!?!?!?!??!?!!
IIIGHT, GANGSTER FOR, RIIIGHT
thats some elegant elliot offen for my brothers ova seas who dont know wtf im talkin bout ![]()
I thought it was pretty good too…I like kellerman for his extensive knowledge and the fact that he is a “fan” of the game..by having Lewis also give it a newer quality…He just got out of the ring…I think he’s up to date on the fighters, training methods and styles…he also gives us a fresh outlook…It was going to happen sometime…
Lewis did good, but needs a personality. Max is good, even if he is biased. Without Lennon or Buffer, or even Lederman screaming his scores, it didn’t feel like a big fight atmosphere. Hopefully it will improve. I wasn’t disappointed as much with the crew as the fight. If the fights get better{not just on paper}, I’m sure the crew will.
If Atlas, Steward, O’grady, Bernstein, Forman,or Farhood are not announcing it is better to just turn the volume down on fight nights. I agree that Lamprey and Merchant have a certain flare but Lamprey has slowley become no more than a paid conformist and Larry needs some sort of help that I just can’t quite put my finger on.

:coolclick: Too bad I have a few of those.
I like Larry and Lampley…but that little freak Ledderman can go :lickish: himself!
