Jones Jr.-Prince Badi July 29!

From fightnews.com
Silverhawk Boxing today announced that it has reached an agreement for Prince Badi “The Boxing Prince” Ajamu (25-2-1, 14 KOs) to fight former undisputed light heavyweight champion Roy Jones, Jr. (49-4, 38 KOs) on July 29 at a site to be determined. “We’re excited about Prince Badi getting a shot to fight the great Roy Jones, Jr.,” Prince Badi’s promoter (Silverhawk Boxing founder) Dennis Rider added. “The Prince has worked very hard and he’s certainly earned this opportunity.” Prince Badi is promoted by Silverhawk Boxing, managed by Rider Boxing, and trained by Buddy McGirt.

Which weight class will they fight at?

I honestly have no interest in this fight. Hopefully he wins and retires…or goes after Mayweather ;D

I would asume Light Heavyweight where Ajamu has been fighting his whole career so far.

No kidding. :slight_smile:

ditto

not many of us do, he needs to fight the top three or stay retired

He can’t handle the top 3. ::**

[/quote] then he should stay out imo he was great but his time has come and gone.

His trainer is trying to work up his confidant’s back, I never heard of the other guy… Is he any good. If the guy is aggressive, Jones Jr is in for a long painful night or a early nap.

he can be confident but he even said it after his last fight with Tarver he is not aggressive never has been that much the way he beats his opponents is by beatting to the punch and that< his speed, is gone, his power he stillhas I saw it when he hit Tarver, he Tarver got scared but RJJ never pursuit it. he should just stay out of the ring, i grew up watching him but he just needs to stop not many people will pay to watch him anymore I always though he was smarter then that.

Of all the people ranked 20-30 at light heavy, why did he have to get a guy trained by Buddy McGirt, a guy who has beat him twice before? That was a dumb move imo and I wouldn’t be surprised if this fight doesn’t go the way we expect it to :-\

Yeah, ok.. RJJ with the right trainer. And Tyson’s comeback is based on Freddie Roach as his trainer. I’ll believe it when I see it. ::**

Wait…what? I wasn’t talking about RJJ’s trainer. I was talking about Badi’s trainer being Buddy McGirt, one of the best in the world, and the same to guy who trains Antonio Tarver.

It was a generalized statement. I wasn’t specifically aiming the comments at you, Bert Sugar. :slight_smile:
