I told you all! I told ya that what hatton did to kostya wouldnt be tolerated in the US…and without his wrestling and his questionable tactics…he barely won. In most peoples opinions he lost the fight! He dont want no rematch with kostya i can tell yas that, it would be a different fight in the US! Go back to 140 ricky coz if you fight PBF your getting dominated! I know im gonna be sad clicked…i know im gonna be flamed but this shit is true. I like hatton, hes a nice bloke…i just dont like the way he fights!
Inexperienced ref still let him get away with stuff though. It was the ref’s 2nd title fight ;D
Hatton is nowhere near Mayweather.
I agree 100% :). But i have always said that hatton was over rated. No hatton fan could look at that fight and still be as confident as they were before about him beating mayweather.
Hmm…so imagine what an experienced ref would do! Hattons wrestling was a huge factor against kostya, i hope kostya watches this fight! The wrestling tired kostya out but without kostya would of come on even stronger in the later rounds. If i remember correctly kostya had won the last 2 rounds before hatton hit him below the belt. Hatton fans can try and argue with me but hey guys the rules state “Mandatory 2 points or DQ” and neither happened. Thats controversial and always will be in my mind. Not one thing can change that!
he fights similar to Mayorga…a little better…got LUCKY in this gift of a decision…COLLAZO deserves an immediate REMATCH!!!
If hatton fights PBF it would all depend on the Ref, so i have said a thousand times.
This ref would not even let them TRY to work on the inside…
seriously the way he body slammed Collazo I thought he was setting up for the peoples elbow.
Yeah, but NOTHING like the liberties to elbow, hold & rabbit punch from that Manchester ref vs Tszyu!!
Hes a fucking wrestler…finally i can say this with some bloody back up! Tonight proves it! Parris definately helped him against tszyu. If hattons holding wasnt allowed then kostya would of had more distance and then GOOD NIGHT RICKY! Kostya didnt hit hatton with full power coz he never had the chance coz parris let hatton push him around. Its bullshit and i hope its a reality check to hatton!
Good analysis. Hatton is a wrestler inside the ring. I’ve said it many times, if Tszyu wasn’t being bullied around the ring with fouls, he’d land that right hand and you know th rest.
Now that I think about it Dela Hoya want to go out with a bang he should fight ricky destroy him, because he would and go out with his two last fight having been won by Ko. and walk into the sunset and at the same time set ricky staight.
one thing about hattons preparation that was always in the back of my mind. he only arrived in the US a week before the fight. seems very strange to me. the 7 pounds was certainly a bigger issue than i thought it was. however i do think a fight with mayweather is a different matter again. mayweather has come through more weight divisions than ricky so ricky will be the natural bigger man be it 140 or 147. that was a big man ricky fought last night. and no im not sad clicking you although i disagree wtih what u say
Man kostya only arrived about week before the fight against hatton…goes both ways i reckon.
LBSCFC - very interesting point about Hatton arriving only one week prior to the fight…
I know Kostya Tszyu, a guy who made his career on successful trips overseas, always insisted on 2 weeks… Maybe Ricky will try it next time.
It must be hard for British fighters though - look at the kind of fanatical support guys like Bruno/Naz/Benn/Hatton/Calzaghe get at home… Then they come to the States with a lot of hype and basically almost everybody wants to see them fall. It’s no wonder they don’t like going to the States and it’s no wonder that they don’t have particularly good records when they go over.
Barry McGuigan/Steve Cruz… Kelley nearly upstaged Naz.. come to think about it I don’t think Naz had a decent fight on American soil - all his American performances were shit with the exception maybe of the Augie Sanchez fight. Then again that was against Augie Sanchez so that doesn’t really say much. And today Hatton was nearly derailed at the first turn…

Did you watch the Tszyu fight at all???
Ricky Hatton did get hit with the big right hand and he walked through it Tszyu couldn’t handle the heat and folded up. Get over it.
I thought the southpaw factor was bigger than the weight factor, but Collazo was a big natural welter with a good chin.
Yeah right, of course Hatton must be sh*t!!! While US fighters like Zab are still the dog’s!!! At least try to be a little more unbiased. No matter what happened, Hatton was gonna be a looser today. If the fight was won to easily, you’d all be saying that he was fighting a nobody.
I can’t believe that you all are still going on about the Kosta fight. Most people outside the US agree that Kostya was comprehensively beaten, Kostya included. Let me just understand this, a nobody like Hatton roughed up one of the most experienced and knowledgable champions out there. So what exactly was the reason for Kostya quiting on his stool then?? You all know that if Zab had done the same thing in his fight, you’d all be saying what an intelligent fight he fought, and how he’s matured as a fighter.
I’m not saying that some UK fighters arn’t over rated, but not more than some US fighters. Joe C wasn’t even given a hope against ur second coming, Lacy, and look what happened. People are still claiming that Benn was average, and still find fault with his beating of McClennen. Lewis took ages to get any sort of credit as heavy-weight champ, even though he beat everybody.
This was Hatton’s first big fight in the US, and he was clearly trying to put on a show. As for he should not fight in Manchester, why not? Because if he fights in the US, especially with fans like you, the crowd is gonna be less biased towards PBF? Because in the US refs arn’t influenced at all right??!!??

Reason why he quit on his school! The reason was the fucking ILLEGAL LOW BLOW he landed in the 9th round. Id like to see you stand after that! Well didnt it show when hatton wasnt allowed to fight his little dirty wrestling game he struggled?
the only good thing to really come out of this fight was hatton proving his chin again. and at least he didn’t get cut. but a pretty shite performance that he will definately not be pleased with.
:coolclick: for that :goodpost: sanj 16.
Hey Snakey, ask the man himself , KT said the better man won.
Now KT is doing his best work on the dance floor.
Shame he couldn’t find that footwork when the ring was getting cut off by a marauding and NEW WORLD CHAMPION AT TWO WEIGHTS. ;D ;D ![]()
