loading up the sims 2 on the lappy and it comes up with

failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. the application will now terminate.

dunno how to get it to work, scanned the net and everything, lappy says i have directX 9.0c anyways but still no work!!!

Help!!!

What graphics card do you have? Sounds like it might not be DirectX 9.0c compatible…

dunno how do i find out???

Click Start/Run and then type Dxdiag.exe and hit OK. Go to display and see what it says.

says

in device dont say nothing!!

in drivers it says that i got

vga.dll

and in notes at the bottom it says

the system is using the generic video driver, please install video driver provided by the hardware manufactrer
direct3D functionality not availiable. you should verify that the driver is a final version from the hardware manufacturer

Ok… What are the system specs?
Do the same thing again but this time go to ‘System’ instead of ‘Display’.

op system - microsoft windows xp pro 5.1

system manufac - medionnb
model fim2000

bios phoenix 1stbios

processor intel(r) pentium(R) processir 1300MHz

memory 222MB

page file 387mb used 158mb avail

directx version - directx 9.0c

Hmmm… I think the problem is the graphics card is not DirectX 9.0c compatible. Unfortunately, there isn’t anything you can do if that is the problem, except buy a new card that is compatible.

Try this and see, but I don’t think it will work…

Right click on the desktop and select properties. Go to settings and change the colour quality 16 bit. Click apply and OK.

If that doesnt work, then try this too…
Right click on the Sims 2 game, either on the desktop or in the start menu. Go to properties and then in the target field, add a space and -w to the end of the target location. Make sure the -w goes outside the quotation marks. It should look something like this… “C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\TSBin\Sims2.exe” -w
Now click ok and run the game.

Fingers crossed

na neither wrked im afraid, think i will look into new card

cc for all ya help

Damn, sorry it’s not working. :frowning:
I cool clicked you back.

i would imagine u DO hae a dx9 compatible card… as my integrated card has no issues with that shit…

make sure you have updated the drivers on the site of the manufacturer of your card

if you dont know what type of card u have i can tell u how to find out, id open my shit up, but there is an easier way to check, it just takes a little longer

if you wanna see if u CAN get a new card, make sure u have an AGP slot or at least a PCI EXPRESS slot, my POS PC has niether but i can get most games to run on my integrated card

all sorted, my drivers were not installed!!!

some fat fucker with beans down his top fixed it for a fiver

Why is fat guys are always the ones fixing computers. Gave my pc to a self proclaimed expert and best computer tech guy in town a while ago. He tried to fix it but couldnt, he tried 3 times and couldnt. And when i rang him up to tell him it still wasnt fixed the last time he went off at me…a guy whos probably 40 or something tried to stand over me on the phone. Being 17yrs old i probably should of just let it go…oh hell no!. I didnt let some little fat nerd intimidate me over a fuckin phone, man did he lower his voice when i went off at him. Couple of days later he tried the same thing with my dad whos bigger then me, use to box and definately doesnt take shit…the guy shut up straight away. Fuckin little fat nerds lol ;D

if u wanna fix a pc all u gotta do is reformat the harddrive

unless there is physical damage to a physical part of the pc that should make it work

Yeah well this guy told me everything he did to it…i told the fucker to check the tower out coz something might be physically wrong with it. But he didnt, sent it to the shop where we bought it from and they fixed it in 20 mins, the fan just needed cleaning lol ;D
