I just spoke with Frank Warren and his lawyer, Stephen Heath, just moments ago and have been told that Warren has reinstated his original offer of $750,000 to WBA Light Welterweight champion Vivian Harris and Harris’ promoter Main Events to face Ricky Hatton on October 2nd, despite losing Showtime’s participation in the fight.
Last week Warren asked Harris and Main Events to take the fight at $200,000 less than originally agreed upon, reflecting Showtime’s (and their money) pullout.
When that offer was refused, Warren reinstated the original financial terms despite admitting that in doing so, he will be taking a sizeable financial loss but wants to make the fight for Ricky. Frank says that he’s willing to pay for Ricky to get a title shot and added that the $750,000 isn’t because Harris is worth that much (Frank says Harris couldn’t draw flies to a garbage dump) but it’s for the belt.
According to the British promoter’s attorney, Stephen Heath, Harris and Main Events have so far declined the offer.
Warren also said that yesterday he offered Arturo Gatti’s camp $3,000,000 to fight Hatton but was told that Gatti would not be ready for that fight by early October and also that a match with Hatton was not in their immediate plans.
Frank also said that published reports that Hatton - Harris will take place in Detroit are rubbish.
Do we trust a word Warren says. And having dealt with solicitors every working day they are not exactly the most reliable or truthful of individuals.
Overpaid lying bast*rds is the phrase down South I believe!
And why would Gatti want to risk a war when he can take on Floyd (Carl Lewis) Mayweather who’ll tickle him to death with his feather duster fists in comparison.
So now Harris/Main Events have no excuses. Harris said all along that he would fight Hatton in the UK if the money was there.
I wish Warren wouldn’t act like such a twat though with this Gatti for $3 million BS. He doesn’t have the kind of backing for that to be taken seriously and as Gatti is one of HBOs prize assets he needs Warren like a hole in the head.
As for Showtime - wankers! They have subscribers in the US that really want to see this fight >:(

After all the BS, Warren (and maybe Rick?!) have pulled over the last couple of years and all the bums and stiffs we’ve shelled out to watch Rick slap about, do you really think Gatti, Mayweather, Cotto, Harris and even N’dou have anything to be sacred of? There’s no doubt that Warren (and Rick) have been backed into a corner and they are taking on the weakest of the Champions (I think Tszyu, Gatti, Mayweather, Mitchell and Cotto would all batter Harris)
