Castillo to fight Cotto!

http://www.boxrec.com/boxer_display.php?boxer_id=008837

Scheduled for November apparently?!

i wonder if this will come off, its one hell of a match if it does, personally Cotto has got to be just too big, sources say he weighs almost 175lb when he steps into the ring.

i agree. cotto would be too big. god knows how he makes 140!

Both of these fighter are 5’8. the only difference is that Castillo’s has a reach advantage by 2 in. at 69. Cotto may not be physically bigger but his nutrition discipline may be slightly off. If Cotto steps in to the ring extremely heavy I doubt that will work to his advantage. IMO take on Castillo at this time in Cotto’s career is not to wise.

Cotto has tons of more power, but he has a weaker chin than Castillo, but so did Corrales, and look what happened there… Anyways this would be a great fight, and finally IMO put Cotto should he win the realm to fight Hatton or Mayweather without me thinking he would get killed.

I’d check the sources again. Cotto weighed a career highest against Corley in Puerto Rico. He came into the fight weighing 157 pounds.

Since then he’s monitored his weight as much as possible due to the flack that he caught.

ohhhh nice

i think that Cotto is more of a natural welterweight than anything

Would be a great matchup. I’d probably favour Castillo in a tough 12 rounder, although Cotto is getting better and better.

i think cotto’s power would be able to keep him off enough, but would be a great fight

Oh this fight is gonna be a cracker, i just hope sky got hold of it! Its a really close one to go, but ima stick me neck out and say Cotto 10th KO.

Castillo could not stand in close and trade with Cotto like he did with Corrales, he would be KO’d! I think they are both in the right stages of their careers for Cotto to take this one, maybe by KO.

Castillo’s got a longer reach…by about 2".

That will be a factor IWO.

Cotto likes to bull his way in & if Castillo can keep Cotto on the end of his jab & follow up with the same left hook that stopped Corrales.

Cotto’s got a hell of a lot better defense than Corrales & I am pretty much sure that he hits harder than Corrales…the problem is…if he get’s a bit confident…he’s gonna get fwocked. Castillo loads up on the same combo’s that he was doggin Corrales with in the 2nd & 3rd rounds of their first fight…I just don’t see Cotto being able to hold up to that kind of pressure long.

The fact that the two of them are the same height aint gonna be a factor if the bigger (& he’s bigger) Castillo can get set. Castillo can throw such short shots in the pocket (shoulder to shoulder) & Cotto has in the past proven to be open to uppers.

I honestly wouldn’t know how to pick this one…I know who I’d want to win…but you gotta pick with your head & not your heart.

This would be a great match up. Why do you think Cotto has a weaker chin than castillo.
I think 175 is abit of an exaggeration

Exciting matchup, if Cotto can refrain from getting all macho he could make it a hell of a lot easier for himself.

:coolclick: Excellent point & I honestly think that it’ll be a huge factor in this fight.

I like Cotto…he’s a goody…but he’ll fwock himself about in this fight.

Wait & see…if it actually comes off…he’ll fight smart for 3-4 rounds & then get cocky & get his ass dropped.

cotto is awesome and will prove too strong for his opponent.

My boy Miguel needs to stop reading into the hype and being like a Tito going to war type of fighter. People only see him as they have seen from the Torres and Corley fight but get his career and tell me this boy is not a boxing genius. I know I’m backing him against Castillo,he just has to be smart, use a bit of lateral movemtn and he CERTAINLy has the power to keep JLC off,the probelm arises IF he goes to war in which case,Castillo has to be the favourite. What a warrior JLC is though, his first fight @ 140 being with a guy like Cotto!

Agreed. :coolclick:

If Malignaggi beats him none of this will happen.

Castillo any given day over Cotto…and by KO. (mark my words by saving this post)
