Canelo Alvarez v Christian Mbilli

Canelo Alvarez and Christian Mbilli have reportedly signed a deal to face each other in September.

According to Ring Magazine, the pair will headline a ‘Mexico vs the World’ event
in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

While the report did not explicitly mention a date, it is understood that the bout is being lined up for September 12, to commemorate Mexican Independence Day weekend.

Alvarez skipped his usual Cinco De Mayo date in May to undergo surgery on his left elbow.

Mbilli (29-0-1, 24 KOs) was held to a split draw by Lester Martinez at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium in an enthralling defence of his interim belt.

He captured the secondary title by blowing away Poland’s Maciej Sulecki in one round last June.

Reflecting on his defeat to Crawford during an interview with Ring Magazine, Alvarez said: "My body didn’t respond the way I really wanted.

“I wanted to move faster. I didn’t recuperate my weight like I needed.

"So, I felt a little bit tired, and my legs felt a little bit tired, too.

“I did well, even if my body didn’t really feel like I wanted. I tried, but my body didn’t respond.

“I had cramps in my legs, so it doesn’t respond the way I want.”

I have an AI-powered version of Google Translate.
It detects B.S., and translates it into what the person is actually thinking.

So I decided to try it out here.
This is what I got in return:

“I could’ve sworn I was going to put this guy away, thinking that he was just a bloated 147-pounder. Hell… he couldn’t even KO the only guy he faced at 154. Now I’m gonna have to come up with excuses that my fandom will accept. Damn… that was embarrassing! All this time ducking Benavidez, and I get schooled by a guy 3 divisions under me. Crap!”

Think the majority of fans called this maybe a year ago. Especially after Mbilli looked very single gear and stuck vs Martinez. I stopped trying to make sense of the wbc but it’s always the motivating factor for Canelo. One listing they have Crawford as champ regardless of retirement, Ring has Mbilli as champ even though he’s off a draw for interim. Annnd Martinez just won interim in March .

Decent match up though. Unless Canelo has slipped drastically and his chin has cracked during his sleep, he’ll out physical and sap Mbilli. But Mbilli can hustle, and he’s genuinely a tough willing up front guy with decent pop. But levels and all that.

canelo’s been shot for awhile, we saw that against against william scull. at least christian comes forward, so it might work to canelo’s advantage in not having to find him

I dont have a problem with Canelo lining his wallet a little more before retirement, but that is the only significance this fight has.

Also I hear Canelo is already 2 rounds ahead.
