thoughts?
Now this is real tough to call. RJJ was a phenomenon before moving up weights but Hagler had a iron chin and wouldnt take a step back…I refuse to call it.
I say RJJ takes the decision, I think in his prime he could’ve avoided the major
damage Hagler had the ability to give, This would’ve been a friggin awesome
match though, RJJ would point him though close UD
Which Hagler ??? the boxing one or the brawling one ???
Either one loses to Roy Jones. Hagler was more of a volumne puncher than a one punch KO guy. At Middle weight Roy had both blinding speed and one punch KO power. I have to say Roy would win a UD. At Middleweight Roy Jones was nearly unbeatable IMO.
Jones would punish Hagler. To much speed and power.
I agree with the generall consensus… He would beat Hagler, and he would also beat rest of the legendary 4 from the 80’s… He had everything they had except he was combined into one person with more of what they except a great chin… though his chin was good back then.
I agree with you about the chin. He has always had a good chin untill recently. It is BS that people say his chin was “exposed”, thats nonsense. He just got caught with a perfect shot and has his chin and mentality have been damaged ever since.
In a boxing match I go with Jones. In an all out brawl, gotta go with Hagler.
At middle it’s Hagler all the way. Roy at his best was better than Hagler at his best, but that wasn’t until he got to 168. Hagler at 160 was a machine.
at 160 I go with Hagler…He was the BEAST…at 168 I see RJJ pulling a Leonard and running like hell…but it is mythical…at 168 I don’t see anyone beating RJJ ever…He should have never went up…Should have stayed and dominated…
Hagler by KO late.
Roy wouldn’t have the power to dent Haglers chin (nobody did). Hagler would have to rough him up though and make it a war. Hagler was a beast, an animal in the ring and nobody RJJ beat was in Haglers class - yes that includes Hopkins and Toney…
that’s a good point…i don’t think toney or bhop make it to the end of a fight with Hagler…Hagler was heads above…
Roy never got hit on the chin
Just because he got hit once on top of the head by John Ruiz dosen’t mean his chin was ever good.
Jones has not got a good track record with southpaws, and this southpaw would not leave him alone, for sure, interesting.
Considering Jones has only lost to 1 southpaw in his career is a pretty good record against them ::**
And the right hands he took from a young Bernard Hopkins the kind of shots that stopped the iron chinned Echols and ended Joe Lipsey’s career?
Bernard was a HARD PUNCHER!!! And he fought the style against Jones to knock Jones out which was his style back in. To say Roy hasn’t got a good chin, just watch the Hopkins fight, he took the shots from Hopkins VERY well, I cannot say the same for a lot of others.
Sorry seen him spar afew when one of my boys sparred with him, he wasnt to impressive over 8 weeks
Hagler by KO or TKO
RJJ by decision if it goes 12
Hagler.
I have watched the fight (and almost fell asleep, but that’s beside the point)
Hopkins and Roy hardly made contact in that fight, and once Bernard got Roy on the ropes tbh he wasn’t getting much done at all.
Its not like Roy was gettin hit with powershot by powershot, they weren’t clean punches and most of it really didn’t land at all.
