I really think maloney missed a trick with this event to both increase his profit margins and his reputation as a promoter. With the popularity of both fighters (especially jamie in manchester) he should have looked to put this on in a far bigger venue. Maybe he was concerned with the effect that the haye fight may have had, but this was one that was definately worth chancing his arm on… Also the promotion istelf was pretty bad with tickets only available through the fighters and the advertised number not working :
As for the fight it was amazing to watch and the atmosphere in the arena was electric - but a sad way to end. I was really hoping to see matt get to his feet, but am glad to hear he’s ok. I do fear though that that was the kind of defeat that could take a lot away from him as a fighter! I hope not though, he’s a talanted fella and has the potential to go places in the sport…
